How do those compare with a battery isolator similar to the one below.

'16 Tacoma- Avid side steps, LED interior lighting, yaesu ft-2900R VHF radio (KD8EHC), dog box, Garmin Alpha, Plott Hounds Wife's rig '12 Rav4 4x4 4cyl.... its a cupcake, but a damn good runner
I'm not gonna lie, watched every single episode and follow their YouTube page and love the show, but..... from what i'm seeing of their build on this Tacoma i'm gonna just say I think its looking more and more hideous. maybe it's because I absolutely hate the white, maybe it'll look better once they get their wrap on, but I'm hating the overall look of this truck so far.....

Awesome. There were times during the S2 expedition where I thought "I want this dude with me when I wheel." Haha.

Yeah, the cinematography is pretty good but the rest seemed like a big joke. I mean, how much gear do you need to go to Alaska? I rode from California to Inuvik on my dual-sport in the '80's with no GPS or radio or Internet, just tent, sleeping bag, and The Milepost, and there were hundreds of senior citizens in RVs on the roads with me. But more power to them, paid and sponsored to do what we do for fun.

Well you gotta figure a TV / YouTube show like this is always going to go beyond what your average owner would do just because of product placement. I've checked out a number of youtube videos about Tacoma's converted to expedition vehicles and a lot of them are pretty cool with some ideas I would never have thought of. I'll probably incorporate some of the stuff when I get my own Tacoma but I can't see me taking it to the level of the trucks featured in the show even though I think the Tacoma in the show is cool as hell. I will still have to use my Tacoma for actual pickup truck duty so I won't be able to convert the bed for things like slide out refers and the like even though I'd love to do that. Maybe I'll get rich have two Tacoma's lol.

Yeah, I realize I was too harsh in my previous post. And I totally understand the vehicle protection and most of the recovery equipment ... I certainly want to protect the investment in my truck not to mention preventing mechanical damage and getting stuck. And though I've only watched a few episodes, they certainly have done some serious wheeling in places. But the narration and even the overall theme just takes itself a bit too seriously. I mean, this is supposed to be fun! The whole bear "encounter" in the 2nd BC/Alaska episode was embarrassing to watch. And my wife pointed out that the women seem to be along just to do the cooking.

Apples and oranges. The Nat Luna (and other manually controlled) units allow you to connect and disconnect at will. They monitor battery voltage, they have low battery and overcharge alarms, etc.

Ah, yes the fake drama on just about any of the reality based TV shows is annoying as hell. I've only watched a couple of episodes of Expedition Overland and part of that is because they spend too much time yaking about pointless stuff and not enough time focusing on the core idea of the show which is wheeling and camping. I agree with your wife, they need to let the women do more and you have to wonder if the fact that they don't let the women get any driving time is because the show producers are afraid that letting the women drive might be a turn off to men watching the show. If that's the case I got bad news for the men and their precious egos. Women can drive those vehicles just as well as the men can. Hell a female duo recently completed the Dakkar and did quite well. As capable and sophisticated as these modern rigs are the fact of the matter is that the driver isn't having to do as much of the work as the rig is. Women are fully capable of getting some wheel time and I think they should. If it was me I wouldn't have a problem with that at all. I'd be like "Babe, you drive and I'm gonna be your extra set of eyes when we get to the really difficult stuff."

I've watched every episode I could on YouTube. I'm not sure where people say that the women are just there to cook. I've seen them get as much time behind the wheel as the men. And in the Central American season, the women were doing their own thing in Morocco.

All true, it's an excellent show, not sure why some feel the need to down others. They are doing what most would only dream about and sharing it with all who can't or won't.

You ought to watch a couple more episodes, like the ones in which the women drive and compete in an all-women off-road rally event in Morocco ;)

Is this new truck a manual or an auto?

I'll keep watching the show. I like that it is family friendly and something that I can watch with my young kids. Is it perfect? Nope. Is it better than 99% of the garbage on tv? You bet your ass. Keep up the hard work XO.

This show has inspired me to attempt more difficult overland routes. It was the motivator for me to start planning my trans-Nevada overland trip, Where I will attempt a North to South 100% dirt road route. Fall 2016 can not get here soon enough for me to embark on this trip.

Why not just use a manual disconnect or a relay operated disconnect control off ignition signal? It would fairly simple and much less equipment to install in the truck.
