That is a custom sized Eezi-Awn K9 roof rack. It will have several Aluboxes mounted to it, similar to the way we mounted them on the 4Runners.

You're welcome 0210. For the record I completely agree with your assessment of Expedition Overland. I tried watching several episodes and there's just too much BS talking and drama nonsense. One episode had a lengthy segment covering a couple of the guys puking their guts up because they had a mild case of food poisoning. I couldn't give a crap about that stuff. I wanted to see some wheeling and camping. For my taste, the Ronny Dahl channel has far more interesting content and his videos are actually very well filmed. Easily as good as anything from Expedition Overland from a technical cinematography standpoint and far better from a content standpoint. Glad you liked them. Those 79 series Land Cruisers are some serious rigs.

By the way I watched both the Long Way Round and Long Way Down documentaries and I thought they were fantastic.

    What is overlanding to you?

    The commonly accepted definition:

    • Overland(ing): Vehicle-supported, self-reliant adventure travel, typically exploring remote locations and interacting with other cultures.
    http://expeditionportal.com/what-is-overlanding/

I think we were right on target no?

It's not for everyone and the production team knows that. I'm surprised the two of you had enough time to keep watching something your didn't enjoy but I appreciate you sticking with it.

Give some of the E7 videos a watch, you may enjoy those: http://vimeo.com/87254932

Stock 4runner for now but hopefully a Tacoma soon.
^Nailed it. I think most people just want to see hardcore 4wheeling and rock crawling (I for one think it's pointless but that just me). With overlanding its more about the adventure and your experiences along the way (it's the journey not the destination). I support the XO team as well as MSO guys because they're doing something different.

*If you guys enjoy Ronny Dahl's videos, check out IntentsOffRoad on YouTube.

I agree. A show with nothing but a bunch of rock crawling, trucks rolling over, slinging mud like a bunch of kids with expensive toys would get old after a few episodes. I really like the scenery, interaction, and coverage on what it actually takes to go do this kind of traveling. I liked seeing the girls go on that race in Morroco... heck, I didn't even know there was such a thing. There were a few points that were seemed a little dramatic, but it's basically a TV show. It definitely makes me want to go on more trips!

All in all, it's way more interesting than most of what's on TV these days.

Yeah it just wasn't that interesting to me. I would start watching an episode and within a few minutes it would devolve into pointless drama. I'd try another episode, same thing. Fast forward a little, still pointless drama. I couldn't care less about the pointless drama of these people. That's why I quit watching the majority of stuff on Velocity channel. The Ronny Dahl and Intents Offroad videos are far more entertaining and they don't just focus solely on rigs climbing over stuff. Ronny also has a number of videos that just feature vehicle owners and the mods they have applied to their vehicle and a lot of those are pretty interesting to see what they've done and how they have done it. Frankly Expedition Overland could learn a thing or two from those two YouTube channels.

Well, about that. Expedition Overland has 50% more YouTube subscribers despite having less than half the number of videos. They're not exactly looking for a new format. ;)

So the multi-corporate sponsored video series with big money backing has just 50% more subscribers than a random guy in western Australia who just makes videos for fun? Not exactly a ringing endorsement. Look I get what you're trying to get at cruiseroutfit but I'm just not on board with it. The XO videos are laden with the myopic and pointless drama that permeates too much of television these days. The Ronny Dahl stuff is far more entertaining to me for this sort of genre. Heck the aerial drone shots alone are better than anything I've seen in the XO videos. If more people would rather watch a bunch of twenty-somethings act like drama queens with the some staged product placement in the background than I wish them all the best.

I enjoy Ronnie Dahl videos also. Maybe you should start a thread on his videos. Leave this one for the fans of XO.

No worries. There are lots of good off road videos out there these days. Lots are tailored to specific types of offroading or different types of cinematography. Having Choices is great.

XO may not be for everyone but overall it is a good show.

Corporate sponsorship or not, XO seems to appeal to a wider range of folks.

I bet you feel better after that rant. It's good to get all that anger off your chest. Next time just change the channel before you burst.

Start with the 1st season and work your way up. It helps you follow their progression. The show gets better with every season.
