As the OP, I thought I should post an update on my rail setup. It is by far my favorite mod and I really enjoy having the tablet and phone mounted exactly where I want when navigating off-road. I've done enough off-roading with this setup to be confident that the mounting is strong enough to survive long term. On rough roads I do get some movement, but it is all (as far as I can tell) in the rubber of the actual RAM mounts and not the dash. As mentioned earlier in the thread, the install and fabrication was pretty painful, but it's been worth it to me.

The no drill mount looks well made and is promising. After messing with the vents, I'd like to see how it mounts to determine
if it might effect longevity. It may not introduce any additional stress to the vents themselves. It looks great for sure!

He has a few people lined up to test prototypes off-road to see how it holds up. It will be interesting to hear what they report. I haven't checked on the thread today, but from what I understand, it does prevent the vent from pointing in some directions. I'm sure we'll hear more later once it starts selling and folks provide reviews.

This is really nice how it turned out. I might look to add a usb charging port through the rail. The painted rail almost looks factory.
