    What am I missing here?

I want an AMP RESEARCH HD MAX BED X-TENDER. So I checked on AMP RESEARCH's site and they list it as part # 74811-00A. The same part number listed for both the Frontier and the Tacoma.

I go to RealTruck.com and search for the part number and get three different results for the same part #. I clicked on each product and notice that the most expensive one is for the Tacoma.

I chatted with one of their reps and he said that the one for the tacoma is more expensive because "It would include different brackets". Hmmm....According to the part numbers listed on the 3 differently-priced items, it appears that the Tacoma option is the one that does NOT include anything extra. The other two cheaper options include extra brackets and tender latch kit, respectively. He simply had no clue.

I checked the install instructions (same for for all three options) and they look identical to me.

What gives? I just want a bed extender, have no tonneau cover to deal with so as long as my order includes part # 74811-00A I should be OK, right?

Go to jet.com and buy it there. That's what I did but I got the black one. It's listed at $234 but once you add it to the cart it goes down to $217. Then create a new account and use coupon code TRIPLE15 and get another $30 off. Coupon discount doesn't show yet below because my account isn't new anymore but trust me it works. Good luck!!!

Awesome! Just bought it. Price didn't go down after adding it to the cart, but I did apply the $30 coupon upon registering. $206.40 makes me happy. I ended up buying the black one too! Thanks again.

Step ten says Toyota applications require use of an extra bracket.

I believe the Nissan version clips onto their bed rails. The Tacoma uses a mount which you have to install.

True Amazon would probably easier to deal with for returns but me personally, I don't like rebates and waiting to get my money back. Sucks that the price didn't drop for OP but I paid $179 shipped about 10 months ago.

I'm going to give Jet.com a chance. I love Amazon but they shouldn't be the only player in town. I also hate rebates but if I'm not mistaken I'm still eligible for it from AMP Research, which would drop the final cost to $156.40.

Thanks for everyone's input. I have bought a few things from RealTrucks but I don't like unclear pricing on this. Hopefully it doesn't become a trend.
