The propane fire is made by Camco. It's called the "Big Red Campfire". Technically it's considered a stove and therefore legal as long as you have your campfire permit.

    Date(s): Jul 19, 2016

    Contact(s): Alicia Embrey

July 15, 2016 -In the Sequoia National Forest and Giant Sequoia National Monument, this declaration includes all forestlands located in Tulare, Fresno and Kern counties.

Visit www.fs.usda.gov/alerts/sequoia/alerts-notices for a full list of restrictions and information.

    • Campfires and/or charcoal fires are NOT allowed.
    • Stoves and lanterns with shut-off valves that use pressurized gas, liquid fuel, or propane will be allowed if the operator possesses a valid California Campfire Permit.
    http://www.fs.usda.gov/alerts/sequoia/alerts-notices/?aid=35306

It will never replace a real campfire when it gets cold and you need the warmth, but for summer time, fire bans and the ambiance, it's rad!

As of now, it's just a really close group of long time friends that go on the trips. We've yet to post invites as we're not sure if it's something we want to implement as of yet. When the time comes, it'll be posted on the website.

Ditto! We've made trips to Bishop just for them! And they have Zapps potato chips!

I found this thread to be rather annoying the more and more I read it. I found myself getting very unhappy with what I was looking at. It all comes down to me not being there to join in on this awesome adventure. What an amazing trip. I live in Clovis CA but my dad worked for SCE for years and my brother and sister grew up over Lee Vining. I have been on a few trips with the old man over to see a few of the power plants and places he worked at and have been to bodie once. I have never seen the eastern sierras like you guys did. What an amazing adventure.

Clovis is so close man! I'm north of Fresno and go to the east nearly every weekend in the summer (as long as Tioga Pass is open). In fact, headed that way today. You really should try to get up there, it's so worth it

Great pics! What kind of camera do you use?

EDIT: Nevermind. Saw the answer. I've been looking it to mirrorless and this post is swaying me...

    Just the basics
How did I miss this report. Great stuff. The working man sandwich at MSM is amazing. I may have to try that burger place but MSM is hard to pass up.
I don't shoot mirrorless but your pics are helping me "need" a newer wide angle zoom. The 24-70 isn't cutting it sometimes.

What an incredible adventure!!! The narrative was spot on and concise. You took us there and gave us the flavor of the trip, in very few words. The pics! ........ oh my! Some of the best wild outdoor shots I have ever seen. Thanks so much for taking the time to compile, write and produce such an amazing chronicle! Bravo!!!

Bishop is OK but still in CA. Keep going a little further north on 395 and your in NV. Great country up there. Minden, Gardnerville, Carson City etc. Plus it's up out of that hot desert.

Nevermind. :anonymous:Bishop is great. My uncle lives there and works for Edison out there. He controls all the turbines for the power plants up and down the Sierras.
