Fair enough, I’m only making jokes of course. My 4 banger is also rocking the 3rd gen suspension

All good. I know there are sticker police on TW, so I knew the risks when I put them on lol. But I had a plan to get a nicely equipped 2.7 and wanted to just do a few small mods to kinda get it where I wanted. Basically make it sort of like the TRD OR with the SR5 2.7, since it wasn't offered.

And really, that is why I am attracted to the '22 Trail. It's nothing fancy but has a 1in lift, good wheels/tires and looks the part (no air damn hanging down in the front etc.) But if I keep mine, that's fine. It's been great and does what I ask of it. Especially since my job has let me work from home permanently, so no more long commute to load miles on it, like I used to.

They don't call them "Stealerships" for nothing.

FWIW, I had mine appraised at a local stealership after having it appraised at Carmax, the dealer came in a bit higher than CM but it was still lower than the "rough condition" Edmunds and KBB values for trade in and my truck is definitely not in rough condition. The stealerships know all too well how tough it is for them to find anything clean enough for resale from the auctions, so they want to lowball everyone for them to maximize their profit margin on resale. Play their game if you're ready to buy a new truck and offer them 5K under list price for their new truck, to offset how much they want to rip you off for.

Umm have y’all missed the fact it’s a 4 banger with a bunch of miles??? OP nice truck. As others mentioned go private sale if you can. Also, don’t be afraid to haggle with dealership. Just tell them thanks but no thanks.

Thanks. And I think everyone is aware that it's a 4cyl w/ a fair amount of miles. I'm just looking for any and all feedback. What would you feel comfortable with (and fair) as far as trade? Or do you think $11k is fair? I talked to them today and said I felt like $13k was a fair compromise. So once they have pricing info on the 22s, I'll see how it all works out. If I don't like the numbers then I may look at private party, even though that would be a bit of a hassle. Or I may just keep it for a while longer.

Mine is a 2.7 w/ just about 100K on it, I was offered 19K for it at the stealership when the Edmunds "good condition" value was $21,500.

I have not looked at prices much for used Tacomas. There aren’t many vehicles on lots around here. I would say you are in the drivers seat on this one. Keep pushing the dealership.

I would look at private party unless your worried about the new truck not being there by the time you sale yours.

Just figured I'd update a bit. A local Chevy dealer had a couple ZR2s on the lot, used. I wanted to check those out and see if maybe there was a deal to be had. Those are the only non-Tacoma that I would be considering. So they had 3 but I only liked 2. The 3rd one seemed beat, even though it was fairly new. Anyways, 1 was a '18 with 35k on it and the other was a '19 was 20k on it. Both non-Bison. They were certified used with the extended warranty built in to the price and they would not budge off of $45,000 for either of them. They offered me $10,500 for my Taco. So it seems like the market is just too crazy right now. That is basically MSRP on those ZR2s. There are 3 new '21's for $45k, so why would anyone buy a '18 with 35k on the clock? That is my scare about if I were to sell private party. I don't know when I'd find a vehicle for a price that I'd be happy with. So I guess I'll just keep an eye out for used ZR2 or TRD OR/Pros and then also when the dealer gets info on the '22 Trail, I can see where they are at with that. I'm looking to keep my budget around $35-40k.

if you do sell it privately - wait till winter & sell it in Denver the week before a big snowstorm - triple your profits $$$ :spending:

Don't mean to pry into your personal finances, but is it possible for you to purchase a truck first and then sell your Tacoma afterwards yourself?

You are probably right lol. It's been a good truck. But my situation has changed. My last few personal vehicles I was putting like 40k a year on them, w my job's commute. So it made it really tough to stay ahead of the vehicles value. And I needed a truck because I race motocross and need to haul my bikes, use it at my cabin (like the pic in the thread etc.) So getting a 2.7 with some mild mods was my choice, mainly for reliability purposes. But now I won't have to do that commute anymore. I'd like a little more power to haul the bikes, plus the wife wants a double cab, for more inside room. We have a dog that we take places and a child may be in our future etc. So while I could certainly keep going with the '14, it might be time to move to something else.

That's totally ok, no worries. And yes I could in theory but really not something I'd want to do. I was just recovering the bank account from getting married last summer and bought 2 new race bikes. So I try not to drain my account, even though I realize I would recoupe that.

Last year (June) I got $10K on a stock 2007 V6 automatic double cab 4wd (not offroad) with 144K miles selling it to CarBuyerUSA. Moderate hail damage on roof. Many trail scratches. Dent in rear quarterpanel. So - body was not in perfect shape. Good luck with your decision - but $11K (as others have said) is too low.

Just for fun, I put my '11, AC, 6 cyl 4x4 with a few pin stripes, minor hail damage, with 105,000 on the clock into the 'Sell Now' feature on Carvana and it came back with a 15,000 offer to buy. Op, you might try some of these online buy/sell services just to see what price you get back, but I know the initial offer and final offer aren't always same. I personally hate the posting, emailing back n forth, haggling and dealing with private buyers when it comes time to sell and upgrade.

Understand on the bank account drain, but what about financing to bridge the gap in the interim? I'd keep in mind too that I wouldn't expect you to be sitting on your old truck very long. In other words, if when you buy your new truck you already have your old one cocked & ready to sell (i.e. truck detailed, listing w/pics drafted up, etc.) it should move pretty quickly, assuming you don't try to be like some A-holes asking top, top, top dollar for their stuff and sit on it for months because they won't budge a penny under their asking price.

I'd just hate to see another fellow MXer leave thousands of $$$ on the table! :bikewhoops:

I know what you mean and it does seem like a daunting task when it comes time to sell something. However, generally for big ticket items like cars, trucks, motorcycles, boats, bicycles, etc. as long as the seller has their stuff priced reasonably for its given condition, it'll move relatively quickly...especially in the seller's market today. What I see is the "I KNOW WHAT I GOT" types that are the ones sitting on their stuff for months and months...
