Awesome rig and camper. Love these and the Scamps. We have a Ar-One that I would like to take on some forest service roads but probably nothing more since it would rattle itself apart.

The AR One, does it have a wood frame? I suppose if it is, trying to haul it where that truck can go could shake it apart. I've only hauled aluminum framed and gelcoat skin, those are stout offroad where the truck can go.

Its metal, but the interior is so cheap-lookimg I'm not sure it would do so well. It is nice that they did a side mount ac to help with overhead clearance

If the AR-one is metal frame don't worry about taking it far offroad where the Tacoma can go. Take it as far as you can with the Tacoma as long as you can back it out, that's your base camp.

If the frame is stout the interior won't fall apart, use it offroad and have fun.

Small side mount AC unit is nice, easy to generator power.

The problem for almost all trailers and trucks for that matter are wash boards. On trailers stuff just gradually starts coming undone on the interior since most of them are just built usuing cheap wood and glue/staples.

Yeah, I've found with trailers you should give them a going over with appropriate screwdriver/nutdriver and the low-grade LocTite. Tighten up everything you can get to. Doorframes, windowframes, interior parts, vents, waterheater, and so on. Frame, suspension also.

This is rad! How much did you pick the trailer up for? And how much have you put into it so far? Just trying to gauge, because I want to do something very similar. Can you run the AC off the house battery? What's your biggest pet peeve or thing you'd change about it?

Casitas have a great following and hold their value exceptionally. But plan to spend 10-20k on the trailer alone. So far I’ve only spent a couple hundred dollars for the mods. AC can only run off the generator and wouldn’t change a thing.

Yeah I've noticed the 20 year old ones are only about 20% cheaper than a 10 year old one, and the 10 year old one is only 20% cheaper than buying new. This is almost worse than the Tacoma Tax! Thats why I was curious what you paid for yours.

Thanks for the info. Which generator do you have?

Mine was/is 18 years old and when it popped up for sale 14 miles from my house I jumped on it. They were the original owners I paid 8700. They were asking 8900 and I went to their house with 8k in an envelope but they said no. I had to come back a few days later with the rest of the money. My A/C is 7000 btu and would run off a smaller generator but the newer ones have 13000 I think. My A/C cools it well.

I think he was referring to the way he runs his A/C when he's out in the wilds. Obviously, it can also run off "shore power" (the 110VAC you get in an RV park hookup). If the weather is cool and dry, the ceiling-mounted variable speed vent fans are 12V and can run off the battery.

Anyone have any issues or concerns about the carpet on the walls and ceiling with the Casita units?

Have a friend and his wife thinks the carpet would cause mold with condensation, retain odors, be hard to clean.

I have no experience with the Casitas, so just asking for my friend.
