I just put together a review for the Extang Solid Fold 2.0. Its brand new on the market and just came out with it still being back ordered. Since there were no reviews for this cover on a Toyota Tacoma i decided to make a video to show you guys what it looks like to help you make a final decision before buying.

Thanks for review! Seals look much better. Wonder if it'd be possible for me to get a replacement since my seals are pulling up around that first joint already...

Before getting the 2.0 i had the regular one (Extang Solid Fold) I had the same issues, its poor design made the seals turn and eventually rip off the cover. which made it leak. I emailed Extang directly, with pictures, showing them where the issue was, as well as my original receipt (bought form 4WheelParts). They sent me a BRAND NEW one with NO cost to me, also sent me a pre-paid shipping label for my old one to send back. This was on 01/14/2014. Try contacting this guy, hes the one who helped me and was AMAZING. Email Jeff Foutch at jeff@extang.com -1800-877-2588 ext 2323. :) if he agrees to do a exchange due to it leaking you can than either sell the brand new that you get, to someone or have a good product again, just not as good as the 2.0:/ Hope this helps

Thanks for the info Yarro! I sent him an email and we'll see where we go from there! Just bums me out that I've had this cover for barely 4 months and am already experiencing rail seal issues. Then of course a new one comes out to address this...

Just contacted Jeff today and he is sending me a new 2.0 for free in the mail! Super stoked on this. He said it is almost entirely different besides the clamps. New and lighter paneling that is more heat resistant, etc. Of course all the seals are new too. Very impressed with Extang service. Can't wait till it comes in to get a better look! :D

I have the 2.0 on my DCLB its been on for about 3 days and to be honest I'm having some issues with it. Maybe you all can help out cuz im actually going to make a call to extang tmrw to address them. I know you have the 5ft and I have the LB but they should be pretty similar.

    1. Have you noticed the 2 dimples in the panel closest to cab? I called almost immediately when I saw these cuz thought it was shipping damage. Turns out that it is from over tightening the clamps which were not over tightened in my opinion. I loosened and was told they would go away and they still remain. I even un hooked completely for a day and they are still there. Plus when I leave it only 2 turns tight like they recommend the cover seems to work its way to the rear after a day of driving.

    2. I find that the cover seems to be just a little short. I mean if I set it tight to the cab then I have gap at tailgate and vise versa. I have tried to find a happy middle position but no luck. Maybe more weather stripping or a different kind of stripping is the answer here....I see in you video it looks just like mine and it sits on the rail track at the cab and not the actual truck bed. Water definitely finds its way between there. And if you move it back so it rest on actual bed then you have a clear gap at tailgate. Maybe I'm wrong but it seems if the cover was even just a 1/2 inch bigger it would be perfect...

    3. The rear latches don't seem very tight. I imagine there is a way to tighten these but haven't really looked into it. You can pretty much pull the last panel up 6in at the tailgate and see in/ grab anything in the bed which has me a little worried about security. I know if someone wants in they will get in but this just seems too easy.

I absolutely want to love this cover. It looks badass and the overall folding function is flawless. I am just having a little buyers remorse because of what I paid for this thing and the issues above. I really hope I can get this worked out. I will get some pics tmrw and update after I call.

Actually now that you mention it i will completely agree with you on 2. & 3.: while i didn't notice any dimples(unless ur talking about small half inch gap in the corners at the cab end, those can be blocked with a little padding adhesive) and i tighten that sucker down hard so no water gets in . but tmine was so a bit short; just a tad. finding just the fitting spot is a smewhat of a challenge and will take a couple more min putting it on if you have to take off frequently. the previous model did not have this problem. I think this is becaue they mis-calculated. however that being said the fact that both of ours are a little short makes me think its supposed to be like that. i am however able to have it sit about halfway on the rail towards the cab and covers most of the tailgate end(ill upload some pics).. regardless i think this needs to be addressed Just in case its a design flaw. I didn't think much of it at first but now am starting to bither me a bit. as per point 3 i would completely agree that they are a bit loose and i think they did that on purpose since to be honest for the average person you would have to pull down pretty hard to clamp the ends( for me no problem, for my wife who is pretty small it was pretty hard). but it kind of annoys me too as it does make it feel less secure and also a less tighter fit. I will try to see if i can break into it by putting my hands in and pulling the hatch, i will update to let you guys know.

Def understand your frustration and i will most likely address this to Extang and Canopy World too. Let me know what you find out too...this is still by far the best cover out there, given that i can use all my OEM accesosires and stock rails. Had to grind down the knobs on my bed divider to make this cover sit tight on the bed sides. But thats baby stuff;)) hopfully .2 &.3 are resolved for anyone else buying though

Dimples can be seen on the panel closest to cab on the top side exactly where the inner most part of latch assembly is. Basically if you look at the underside of the panel find the screw used to hold the latch/clamp assembly in then look at the top side in that exact spot. Mine has 2 dimples one for each latch/clamp. So much that when it does rain they pool with water and are extremely noticeable.

That sucks, you can definitely see those... Haven't received my 2.0 yet, but will review these issues when it arrives. According to the Extang rep, the rear tensioners in the back are the same and I think they suffice. Nothing rock solid, but enough to keep it tight.

The old version didn't fit perfectely either, but with patience and adjustment, you can make it fit pretty good. I also put weather stripping infront of the cab.

I think it has to do with the TPO dent resistant panels unfortunately. The old style was aluminum I believe and although it could be dented it was more rigid than the new material. The New material actually gives a little, it is soft to touch and the best way to describe it is squishy lol. Great for dents but not these dimples which are the result of tension from mounting points pulling the panel down from the underside.

No That should NOT happen !! return. My clamps are as tight as i could get them with it being right up against the side rails and i have no dents. You also stated that they were there when you got it.. The dents look like they were caused by the clamps from the backflip when folded up, not some "over tighten" problem. This is the NEW 2.0 right? cause my regular solid fold had dents similar to that too cause i accidentally opened it and had the bed end clamp ding it as it was coming down. But the 2.0 is TPO not aluminium. There is no way that should happen by "Over Tightening" i think the guy who told you that doesn't know what hes talking about. For goodness sake they advertise it as DENT PROOF so if it has dents somethings wrong....

It's definitely from the clamps and not impression from being folded. Yes 2.0. And no they weren't there when I got it. Seems like they appeared after a day in the sun. I am hoping you are right and this is an isolated issue and I receive a resolution tmrw when they get back to me. I will keep you posted.

It has been over 82 degrees here for he last couple days and my truck has been no where near the shade and i haven't seen anything like this happen to mine . Since the clamps are on the edge where they tighten i don't see how they can cause this.. Im so puzzled:eek:. I say its the bed cover thats defective 100% unless someone dinged it by some kind of tool, I do notice when i pushed down with my hand that the material does bend a bit, but it comes right back up right away. It would have to have been something with much more force, but have a really hard time believing that the tightening clamps can cause that.

Hey guys so i took a look at mine and guess what.. same thing , it got small little dimples. its hardly noticeable and the other side doesn't really have one. I say this should not be happening. but i dont think i am ready to return it since it has amazing seal and i dont want a canopy, and really there is NOT a better cover out there. Heres a pic:5.jpg

Yep. Mine seems worse tho and to be honest I'm not sure I can just live with it at this point. And at this price point for a "flat" "solid" "dent Resistant" cover.....Kinda sucks that out of the box I had some one ask me if I already dropped something on it.

This is supposed to be a "tough"cover and now I feel like I need to baby it.

Jeff is supposed to call me back Monday to take care of it. I will update when I hear from him.

And the one at the back is acting up now.

I hear ya. If it weren't for this the cover would be almost perfect. Seems like maybe they should have put some sort of flat maybe 12x12 reinforcing plate/panel between the panels in these spots to correct this.
