I noticed the other day that the water from the AC drain line was dripping right onto the underside frame of the truck and running down it before falling to the ground, which over time would probably cause it to rust in that area. I decided to extend the hose and reroute it so it could fall directly on the ground instead. Got 2 feet of 5/8 inner diameter braided vinyl tubing, zip ties, and a knife. Took me only about 10 minutes to complete!

    1. First is the yellow circle. Find the hose (easier to access from under the passenger side of truck) and slide the vinyl tubing over it as far as you can get it. Then tightly secure the overlapped portion with 2 zip ties.

    2. Second is the red circle. Run a zip tie through the small portion of the frame (its a very small hole) and around the tubing to prevent the tubing from getting close to the hot pipe. You probably don't need to do this because it's pretty far from the pipe anyways, but I just took extra precaution here.

    3. Last is the orange circle. Route the tubing so that it runs through the holes and out the bottom hole of the frame about an inch or so, then tightly secure with two more zip ties where it exits out the bottom hole of the frame.

Then sit back and admire your work for a minute, go inside grab a beer and smile thinking about how you just fixed Toyota's engineers screw up and the possibility of having your frame rust/rot out.

exactly what i did not long ago... figured why have water drip on the frame and cause preventable rust.

Shouldn't you crack the beer open at the beginning of this mod? Modding makes you thirsty.

    Nice job btw.

This brings the Chevy Malibu to mind from the early-mid 90s. Their front cradle rotted out due to condensate drainage. My neighbor had one the he bought off of a little old lady, it looked like new. It met an early demise due to rotting out from condensate.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll be looking for this on my '14 as soon as the snow melts.

While rust is a non-existent issue where I live, I may do this just for the added piece of mind. Excellent writeup. I also agree with the above statement of "beer first".
