a fuel cell is much different then a larger then stock fuel tank. fuel cell generally doesnt have a canister filter, doesnt use oem fuel filler, doesnt have oem breathers. Having had a desert truck that was one of the main issues i had also, relocating a factory tank the smog people had no issue as its using all the stock "smog" stuff.
truck was bought used from out of state.

also, not sure this is really ment for a stock truck, as you would get the stupid taco lean, on mine thats heavily modified i have no issues with any extra lean.

Jerry cans can be messy and sometimes leak. They also take up valuable space in the bed. You'd also need 3 of them to match the capacity of this long range tank.

And don't forget, for people who have a lifted Tacoma with much larger tires, we're not getting 350miles to the tank as stated above. Add a trailer on the back and you're lucky to get 200 to the tank. So extra capacity is a HUGE thing! :D

on my stock tank i would be happy with 200miles to a tank lol. large tires and a heavy truck its bad, then towing 6k its even worse.

I almost ran out of gas this weekend. Found myself with just under 1/8th tank of gas in a sort of "no mans land" area. We decided to look for the next station on Gmaps. Next gas station was over 30 miles away. We rolled into the gas station just barely making it. Filled up with 19.56 gallons. I've NEVER had it that low before. I was sweating my ass off the last few miles!

I normally do too but this was the first trip I didn't take them on. I have 2 as well. Really could have used them this time!

I have also been doing a bit of research about using the spare tire area for an aux gas tank.
I remember reading about how an Isuzu Trooper (?) tank would fit there well, but haven't really seen much else...

I also wonder how much modification (if possible) it would take to make this post's tank fit an Access Cab w/6' bed?

This is a pointless mod unless you're doing long distance traveling often

My old 3/4 ton truck had a 34 gal tank, what a pain in the ass was it to pump gas when it was completely empty in the middle of winter!

I'm really glad to see this option available. I don't think the price is out of line either, for a highly custom, limited volume item. My only hesitation to getting one is having all that weight variability on one side. It's a 214lb swing from full to empty. The truck is already biased to the drivers side. I do a lot of traveling and the range of the stock tank has left me sweating too many times.

This was a concern of mine as well but, I'm going to adjust as needed to level out.

A few audio upgrades, tinted windows, remote start because it f'n hot in Texas! 6in Fabtech DB lift, 17x9 Fuel Trophy wheels, 315/70/17 Duratracs,BAMF 80in sliders w/kickout, Prinsu cab rack w/30in Heretic light bar, custom bedside decals, custom hi-lift jack brackets, US Offroad front bumper w/winch, bed rack with RTT, CB, Short wave base station, Ultra gauge, color matched grille surround, an ungodly amount of recover gear, ARB fridge, hood struts, RotoPax, traction pads.
The concerns of weight distribution can be managed by relocating gear to the passenger side of the truck. Most of us that are seriously looking into this mod have already adjusted for other adding issues. This will be no different then having a larger person then yourself driving your rig.

My current setup already calculates for the additional weight provided by this tank and fuel. I will report my findings back to everyone once I receive and install this in my truck.

I think someone on this forum modified the tank to fit a long bed, or maybe I am losing my mind

The AC and DCSB are the same frame, so I'm not sure why the fuel tank would mount differently.

Check out these links. It's been done before but not without modifications. On the first link start reading from there. The second link is from another form and has great info on this subject.

You still have almost a gallon left! :p I've put 20 gal and change in mine before. It sucks not knowing exactly how much is left. Maybe one day guages will read to the nearest hundredth of a gallon.
