Extended range fuel tanks!?!?

    Not sure about Tacomas, but some guys with the early trucks installed aftermarket tanks where the spare tire goes.

    One guy I knew with an '83 pickup, did an under-bed tank using a stock toyota tank on the opposite side from the normal, passenger-side tank. Had to re-route the exhaust, and do some fabrication.

    It would be a cool, and rare, mod for a Tacoma. You could get one of those old tanks (1979-94) that are designed to go on the passenger side, and adapt it. A lot of work, though.

    Hey, another Minnesotan!

    I've seen a few sites offering Gen 2 tanks up to 33 gallons. I've also read some blogs about fitting an aux tank where the spare tire goes. Personally, for the price I'd get some Jerry Cans.

    My commute from home to work is 500 miles and I'm sick of trying to find and stretch my gas milage to get to gas stations without ethanol in the gas so being able to double my fuel capacity without Jerry cans or an in bed mounted tank would be awesome.... Who wouldn't want 600 miles between filling?

    I email long range waiting on a response I believe they have a 33 gal replacement tank but we will see if it fits... I'd go for a aux tank where the spare tire goes to if I could find one

    Check the TTORA Garage Section....
    Done that years ago and communicated photos, dims... In the end.. The HiLux version will NOT work and they did not want to invest in the tooling to produce them for the US market :(
    There was one company in the US, but they recently sold off the business and the new company does not show it in the line up.

    I have not yet contact them about Gen1 fuel tanks.
    So if you are game... That is where I would start.

    Note, other people used ford or Isuzu fuel tanks as aux tanks.

    They make a 2nd Gen Tacoma specific tank not sure about the 1st Gens

    Go find an late 80s toyota truck tank. They are passenger side mount.

    Chop your exhaust and dump it and then mount the second tank on the passenger side. Do some plumbing and wiring and your good to go.

    So end up filling one tank then turn the truck around to fill the other lol.... That would be funny... But that just tanks website sells what appears to be identical to northwest metal products aux tank.... The company that sold out to sunset metal..... No pictures but part number is tpa-7 same size tank same location same filler spot

    Just burn ethanol then you can get gas any where lot easier and cheaper than adding a tank. Yeah you might lose .05 MPG using the ethanol.

    Our vehicles are not designed to burn that crap... And I loose at least 2 mpg with that in my tank... With my lift and 33's on my truck I've seen 22mpg running 65mph... 20 running 75 mph.... That's with the stock gears I believe 410, 2900-3k rpm....

    The long range company from Australia have a tank for 97-04 tacomas if I remember correctly stock replacement 125l or 33. Blah blah gallons

    I think I'm gonna buy some ap leafs and a diff drop.... Haven't had the time to look but is it just two bolts holding the diff or is it four.... I think ap sells them in sets of two but lil curious if anyone knows... Ya think that 3/4 inch drop will let me go from 2 inches in the front to 3,5?
