So I took my '17 TRD OR in for 20K service and they said after the next one, the free ride is over. They suggested an extended service deal for $329 that includes the next major service, which alone is $200.

Can anyone tell me if this is a good deal or should I just do the service myself?

    Comments welcome.

Doesn’t really help not knowing what’s included but majority of the time it’s cheaper to do yourself.

I did it on our highlander. It’s basically extending ToyotaCare for more mileage.
It was like $299 to take it to I think 45k
    Which got you the 10k service @30k & 40k
    And a rotation @ 35k & 45k.
Seemed worth it to me at the time.

If you don't do your own maintenance it is worth it. It's basically two oil changes and two rotations.
    DIY
    Rotations: Free
Oil Changes: ~$2 filter; 6 quarts of oil ~$30

Air Filter, Cabin filter extra but they will charge you in addition to that warranty anyways. Basically if you DIY you can also switch out the diff fluids, transfer case, trans fluid for the same price.

I believe the 1st "major service" does not occur until 60k when the spark plugs need done, otherwise you would just be paying for some oil changes and tire rotations.

O.P you can change 5 sets of plugs, and do 5 oil changes with the best filter and oil for less than $300,and both are super easy too do yourself.

Not a good deal in my book. $329 for two oil changes an tire rotations is high. If at all possible DIY - it's really not hard at all and you will know it's done correctly.

    That's not a 'warranty'. It's a prepaid service package.

It may be a good value (discounted) if you are going to have them do all your work.

But if you aren't a DIY person at least find a quality independent shop (not a chain) and get some quotes for comparison. Labor rates are usually 1/2, faster service and more attention to detail.

I'm more of a DIY guy. I just wondered if they did something that was dealer-specific. I've already bought the oil.

    Thanks for the comments folks.

Where do you get $2 dollar oil filters and 6 quarts of full synthetic for 30?

I just paid 300 at my dealer that includes 6 oil changes and 6 rotations for 60k miles. I think 329 is not worth it.

Thats a better deal. I'd prolly go for that one. I just took my truck in for the 30K service and I don't have the extended service thing... I asked them to drain and fill my transfer case cause that's the only thing on the 30K list I didn't change (diffs + tranny done with synthetic).

Only reason I didn't do it myself and I'm kicking myself for not doing it now was cause my driver door window stopped working. Long story short... they fucked up the inside mirror cover on the door - now thats falling off, they changed my DIFFs instead of the transfer case lube and replaced my expensive synthetic with regular gear oil that cost like $5 ... WTF... now I have to go back and bitch which I hate doing.

Should have done it including fixing the window myself - wire connector came loose.

..... and they didn't lube my drive-line AGAIN. I think I'm done with dealership service unless warranty work needed.

So far, my dealer seems great, but I was only there for the 5k and did an oil change myself. I am fighting myself over ToyotaCare. I can't resist the free part but really just want to do it all myself.

I plan to do the diffs and MT this month.

Advance Auto is having a sale on mobile one. Got 5 quarts with filter and shop towels for 30, with the rebate that's a $15 oil change

Did they at least figure out what was going on with your window?
