On some other car forums there's usually a regular poster that works at a dealership and sells factory warranties for good prices. I'm pretty sure there was a guy on the FJ forum that did this.

Is there a person like that here? I've searched but I can't find anyone. I'm about to pull the trigger on a 2020 TRD Pro and I intend to keep it for at least 7 or 8 years and I'd like to get a 7/125 Toyota warranty but the price the dealer quoted ($2500) seems pretty obnoxious.

Anyway, if one has a line on this I appreciate it. Thanks!

    Keep in mind a 7/125 is really a 2/65

I got a 100k/6 year for $1100. Definitely worth it in my opinion.

Just for powertrain right? The rest of the vehicle is only 3/36 factory correct?

Yeah the Powertrain. Keep in mind even with a warranty they can still deny a claim for a myriad of reasons. That’s why I’m not a fan of them.

Plus isn't there usually a deductable? I was fortunate enough to have 13 trouble free years with my 2nd gen. I hope I have as good of luck on the 3rd, but if it's looking like it's going to cause me issues I'll dump it for another vehicle.

I’m not sure on a deductible, I’ve never had the extended warranty. But I do know a vast majority of owners never use it and it’s the highest margin for the dealer.

True Grossmotto...it's a Toyota not a GM. I sell them and I do not put them on my own cars...but I buy dependable vehicles and not GM's or German cars. Not that a Toyota can't break but small chance

Dealer wanted $1890 for 6 yr/100,000. Ended up getting 7yr/125,000 for $1100 from the credit union. It mirrors the 3yr/36,000 factory warranty..100 deductable.

3rd party warranties are always more of a hassle than from the dealer.

If I do one, and I'm not 100% decided yet, it would be a factory warranty not a third party.

Couldn't changing the tire, even rim size, be considered modding since it's not factory spec?

Yes. I have seen it! Been in the business for 18 years.

There is generally a 3% leeway on tire size but once more than that I have seen denials. Last one I seen is because the tire was making the odometer 8.19% too slow so true miles were unknown.

Usually though with a denial there is more to it such as the warranty is brand new and just in effect aka preexisting.

Ask for a deal. I would think cost on a 7 125,000 would be around 1400.
Most new cars it make sense to get a warranty, just ask for a deal...

I got the 10yr 100k from Wolverine Toyota for $1100. I only drive 6k a year so I it was a no brainer for me.

Are these worth it? Im buying my 4th brand new toyota and i have always bought the extended warranty. Luckily i have never had to use them, i just think they are a rip off for the price the dealer charges. When my 17 was totalled i tried to cancel the warranty so i can get the money back and they just kept giving me the run around. Now i put a deposit on a 2020 should i even buy the warranty? I planning on keeping it about 6yrs maybe
