Yeah you have to cancel the warranty from the dealer you bought it and you get a check in the mail...
    Not a big deal....

Now this has me thinking. I have traded in different vehicles that had extended warranty left and I never saw a dime. I wonder if somehow the dealership I traded with kept the leftover pro rated $.

No, those contracts are still good, but it saves them from having to give a refund.
Only you can cancel the warranty...

Well that sucks, I have lost out a descent amount of money in the past from not calling and cancelling my warranty. No dealership has ever told me I could do that when I traded vehicles.

That's what I got from the OP's story too

I think the reason behind why OP dumped the 3rd Gen and decided to get a Jeep would be more constructive. Would also be interested in which Jeep OP bought.

It should be noted that I have owned a total now of 3 Jeep JKs in the last 3 years. But I decided to go back to a Jeep JK for a few reasons. While I did enjoy the Tacoma, a few things about it really bugged me. Mine had the rear end that would howl at 50-65 MPH, and it drove me insane; once I noticed the howl I could not un-notice it. Another thing was the seats, I was either sitting straight up or leaning too far back, in six months of owning it I never felt comfortable. My local Toyota dealership kind of sucks, I took it there to get the transmission flashed, and have the rear end looked at, I dropped it off and they called me in 45 minutes to say my truck was perfect and the flash was done. When I asked why it howled I was told they all do it. I was never expecting them to fix anything more so document it so I could start modding it a bit and not have the howl later blamed on the modifications. This bring me to my last issue with the Tacoma. The standard 2.5in lift and 33" tires combo seems a little boring to me, and the 6" lift seems kind of a waste of money. While the Tacoma is plenty worthy offload, and with those mode, I think I have become jaded from my years of owning JKs. For example, a spacer lift on a jeep with new shocks will fit 35" tires, this combo will cost you say.... 1600 bucks, and while its the tip of the ice burg, this set up on a JK will basically take you anywhere you want to go. Because I knew this, a bigger and longer truck on rubbing 33's on a trail did not seem so fun. In all honesty I think I was one of the few that enjoyed the 3rd Gen Tacoma, but I realized it wasn't for me. When I saw the JK color for 2017, was offered a great trade, offered a good deal on the 17, could cash in my extended warranty, have my insurance drop, and could join Jeep Wave for free for two years - I was sold. The Jeep I purchased was 2017 Wrangler Unlimited Sport - with the added rear locker. It's the basic level jeep, nothing super fancy but will be a great platform for my needs.

This is what Toyota really needs to hear. Their trucks have issues that turn people off. And Jeep IS better off-road. Period.

I wish we could mount 35s without cutting the truck too. Especially since I have a longer wheel base on my DCLB! I know guys locally with Jeeps.
