Gotcha, just read through the Toyota Extended warranty and see that it does indeed cover that.

I found this guys info from other toyota owners and bought Toyotas extended warranty.
I got the platinum 7 year 125k mile warranty. I paid 1019 dollars.
He sells tons of these and keeps the price down.

I read somewhere that in FL and CA, you have to by a warranty in the state you live in.

My dealer also said if I were to buy a warranty out of state, they would not honor it.

I know this is a Southeast toyota Monopoly, but

I read that extended warranties in FL are handled through the same regulations as insurance companies or something.

Is this true? I'd like to get an extended Toyota warranty in the future.

I have not heard this. But I did contact Jerry Johnson in Kansas. He said an 8 year 100,000 mile warranty would cost $1039. But if i cant use it here in south Florida that would suck. Is anyone aware of this before I make my decision.

Also, wouldn't that mean that if you moved to another state, that the dealership in that state would not have to accept the extended warranty? That does not seem to make sense.

I will be going through Troy once my new truck comes in at the end of the month. It is like having auto insurance... Have been driving for 11 years and have never used insurance but know it is there if needed.

I'm actually a bit nervous about buying the Warranty from Jerry at Midwest Toyota only because I am worried about it being accepted in Florida. I have read on other sites that if you live in florida you have to buy from a Florida dealer because of some law. I really don't want to spend $1,000 on something I won't be able to use. Does anyone know if this is true?

I purchased the warranty from Jerry Johnson. He was very easy to deal with and I feel I got a very fair deal. I got the 8 year 100,000 mile warranty for $1,039. My local dealership that I visit for all of my maintenance told me it would be $2,600.

For anyone that is thinking of buying an extended warranty I would suggest contacting him. I am very pleased to know that I will be covered until 100,000 miles. Especially since I have already had a few problems. I have already had my A/C fixed, a rear window fixed that would not roll up, and my radio display fixed that kept turning black.

Anybody get prices on the Platinum 8 year 125000 mile extended warranty?

I did an online estimate through Putnam Toyota and this was the price:

    8 Years /125,000 Miles = TOTAL $ 1,460.00

    Tacoma 4X2 (2011)
    8 Years /125,000 Miles
    Platinum Coverage
    with $0 Deductible

    Think about it like this:
Whoever is offering you an extended warranty would not be doing so if they where losing money. Having a 2010 (same as mine, with nearly double miles as yours), your powertrain (really expensive stuff) is still good until 2015, or 60000 miles. Your bumper to bumper runs out @ 3 years/36000 miles, however, if you don't mind fixing small things, this really isn't an issue. Even if you do mind fixing small things, for $2600, you could easily have a dozen problems that cost you $216, and you would only be breaking even if you had 12 problems that cost you $216... I personally laugh at extended protection plans, they are only a gimic to get more money out of you (sure, there are rare exceptions to the rule, but every now and again, people win the lottery too! These trucks are built to last, the only thing you have to do is take care of them.

$1k for an extended warranty??? Take the $1k and put it in the bank. Have had two Toyota pickups, a 1987 and a 1995. The '87 is sitting in my folks driveway as I type and still running strong with NO major repairs other than brakes and radiators. 1995.....Two radiators...a fan clutch...225k. Lost a battle with a Lincoln Navigator :) Probably would have hit 300k without much else. My '13 will go ten years easily.

I look at all the extended warranties I haven't bought and I never buy them on anything. All the money I have saved through the years would cover much more than any one warranty would cover today.

Well, I DO buy trip insurance when we travel to the Bahamas.

Your local dealership lied to you about about the invoice price and tried to rip you off big time. Engine, trany etc go out with 90k miles, you save thousands, good choice.

According to my dealership in San Francisco: the dealerships like Troy's, selling plans to out of state customers are in violation of Toyota's policy. They've sent a cease and desist letter to those dealership. Supposedly those warranties may not be honored by Toyota if you bought a plan from an out of state dealer.

When i bought my new '13 I boughtthe warranty after knowing about Troy. I did bring up Troy's price and that's when they gave me the news. They said I could go with him and risk it or go with them and offered a $700 refund.
