Morning y’all. I bought a ‘24 TRD OR back in August and have been wondering if I should look into an extended warranty. The current warranty only covers til 36k miles, and I drive about 150 miles per day, so I feel it would be a solid idea to get some extra peace of mind. As a guy who’s always driven 20 year old trucks, warranties have never been on my radar, so just looking to see what y’all’s perspective is on the matter. If so, what company would be ideal?

^3rd party extended warranty should be avoided. Nothing like waiting on a broken down truck while the shop waits for approval from the warranty underwriter.

Toyota extended warranty is preferred but you should shop around across the country. There are fat margins built in so some dealers are willing to discount it more.

As to whether an extended warranty is necessary, that depends on your personal financial situation, if you can absorb say a $5k repair bill 4 years from now. Extended warranty is like repair insurance, underwritten by Toyota's financial services arm. On average you'd lose money - Toyota has entire depts of analysts to make sure of it.

My 2024 is our 5th Toyota. So far none have had anything where the $ few thousand plus deducible would have been worth it. With time there were just wear type expenses or for the last one a slightly early water pump replacement not too expensive. The complexity does have my thinking about it.

If I do this I'll call the 45 mi from metro area dealer where I got the pickup or some other smaller market ones competitive with our shopping. Most competitive prices for the vehicles and parts were large or small market dealers.

I know that it is different with different areas and dealers. But the Vehicle Service Agreement was 72 months 100000 miles at $2595. I was told that after it goes off the lot. I cannot get at that price. I know that when the three years is up I get messages from Chrysler and Chevy for additional coverage. If you buy a third party check with your dealer for the ones that cover and are easy to deal with. On my 12 Ram. and 14 Challenger, I was able to get a lifetime one. When I bought my 21 Compass it was done away with. Toyo has an Allstate Complete Protection plus cosmetic. $922 84 mo 99999mi.

Most of the details on the Extra Care plans can be found directly at

    plan.

PLEASE NOTE: Unfortunately, I can no longer help if there is/was an
existing TFS policy on the vehicle, unless it was issued to a prior owner. Here are the purchase instructions if / when you decide to purchase.

I would need you to mail/fax/email a signed letter indicating the exact
current mileage on your vehicle, and a copy of your current registration. (If
you are in a state where you don't get your state registration right away, I
can also use a copy of the bill of sale, purchase contract, or some other
official document which shows the owners name and address, along with the
    vehicles VIN)

Sorry, I know its a little inconvenient, but its the only way we could come
up to cover ourselves on the mileage and VIN verification. After I receive
your letter, I can call you for credit card info, if that's how you choose
to pay, or you can include a check, money order, or the credit card info
with it. Also, make sure that the registration copy is legible (I have
gotten a couple of them recently that I couldn't read or had part of the VIN
    chopped off on the copy).

this is the way. tfs doesn't nickel and dime on claims. they typically just pay them without drama unless your dealer is a shithead and is trying to get 3 tubes of FIPG for a job that needs 1/4 of a tube or wants to order a $1000 entire engine gasket set when they can just order 4 gaskets that total $150.
