Hello bejammin7, no issues whatsoever... Richard was great to deal with and all the follow up documents where sent in a timely manner. The rates offered are also fantastic. Yes, it's a Toyota warranty, not third party. Highly recommended.

Fyi, somewhere there is another thread that shows the lowest prices around from 2 other dealers. I will see if i can find it so you know if you are getting a good deal.

Thanks for sending that, @JB_TN. Unfortunately, Troy responded to me already and said he no longer issues policies to CA, OR, or WA due to various regulatory issues with these states.

Curious, why are you asking someone from western Massachusetts - did you contact Richard at Oroville Auto Center... I'm assuming your from California, if not, sorry.

Yes, I'm from California. I had read conflicting reports on the regulatory changes and figured I'd reach out to Troy to get confirmation.

I did contact Richard and got a great quote. Thanks again.

I ran into the same issue but Troy stated that with an address in another state , he would be able to issue a policy. Were the rates quoted by this other person the same? I'd prefer to just get the warranty now and have the info sent to our home address (we talked about sending it to a summer home in another state).

Jerry is the other guy and his prices were the same. I went with Troy since he got back to me first.

My vehicle is a 2025 Sienna, so the rates are a bit higher, but I believe that's the case for any hybrid. It was tough finding any CA-specific info so I researched any Toyota forum I could (hence why I ended up on Tacoma World). Richard's rates did match Jerry's rates from a post I saw on Toyota Nation, for what it's worth. He was very responsive and upfront, and the process is simple. You can download the documents, which say Toyota Financial Services, before you submit the payment so you know what you're buying.

I had a couple of other dealers tell me to take Richard's offer while it lasted, and one of them said Richard's price was below this dealer's cost.

I used Troy over Jerry for the exact same reason on my Tundra. Quotes were identical as well.

Yes, you can buy warranty (even oem Toyota plans) after the purchase and from a reputable dealer willing to sell you one. Your dealer appeared to pressure you to buy one asap, like mine. My dealer quoted me $1,200 over my existing Toyo extended warranty, with a lesser coverage period.

As noted above, you can buy an factory Toyota extended warranty anytime up to 36k mileage. However, most of these warranties are not transferable.

I would always wait until between 30k and 36k miles, before making that decision.

    1) If you get in an accident at 20k and the truck is totaled, you will only get back the value of the truck. Insurance is got going to pay out for the extra $1,360 you paid for the warranty.

    2) You might have a truck you aren't happy with for whatever ever reason and got rid of it. You decided to buy a 5th wheel camper, you had triplets, it was a lemon etc.

The warranty companies make alot of their money on the assumption that the car/truck will be sold (or totaled) before they have to payout any $.

I passed on the extended warranty on both my 2007 Tacoma (210K miles) and my 2017 Highlander (120k miles). I have not had any significant repairs on either vehicle and the extended warranty would not have paid for itself.

Back in 2011 did purchase for an extended warranty on a 2008 Ford that was bought used and it did pay for itself about 3x over.

With that said, I'm going to buy a new 2025 Tacoma this spring and I do expect to purchase the extended warranty before 36k. Way too many electronics on the new trucks.

The Platinum warranty is transferable one time from the first owner to the second.

This is a Toyota Factory Warranty, not a 3rd party. I geet those 3rd party mailers all the time, they go in the trash

As stated you can transfer one time and you can cancel for a refund
    upload_2025-2-13_21-12-35.png

I replaced the amplifier in my Land Cruiser and the factory part was $1600, I bought a refurb unit. This vehicle has a lot more electronics. I bought it now as the price could go up with Tarriffs, inflation, etc increasing the cost of repairs. I figure one repair will pay for itself in 10 years

Interesting, i didnt buy the warranty even though they were being annoying about it. I will probably wait until around 30k then get something. For now im going to talk with the fella at midwest toyota since I am in Wichita, KS and he is in Hutchinson, KS
