I did the same thing. Received my vehicle service agreement for my Platinum 10/100 in the mail today. I called Toyota Financial to confirm it was recorded against my VIN. I also asked for the welcome packet so I could put the roadside assistance stuff in my glove box.

The problem is trying to get them to honor anything. Standard warranty claims are such a headache that I have little faith extended warranty claims will be any better.

 

Typically the issue. My extended warranty I got from the dealership was from a third party warranty company. You have to read the fine prints because it is shady.

Fyi I purchased a new 2015 bmw x5 10 years ago and it’s still in my garage.
Maybe I should have said most people I know lease and change cars every 2 to 3 years.

My issue with purchasing a warranty is that I feel like by the time you may start to encounter actual issues the warranty will be expired. I could see maybe the 125k service plans maybe being worth it but if these new trucks are as reliable as previous versions..... I never had a single issue, doesn't mean it's not worth it but it is cause for thought. Of course these new trucks have far more things to go wrong with them.

 

I don’t typically get an ext warr for a Toyota/Lexus product……and I’ve had many………
For my Beemers (3 coupes) a different story, wouldn’t own one without it, and the warranty always paid for itself…….

this is my third Tacoma…….2010 TRD Sport, 2021 TRD Sport and now 2024 TRD Sport…..yes, nice truck but sorry, nowhere near as well built as my 2010, and everything is electronic (can you say fail)……..

the cost of ext warranty from the guys recommended on TW is COST……..I doubled my factory warranty , extra 3 years for $610……..that’s $200 year OR $16.94 a month………(2 Big Mac meals)………

 

Got the 125k not for the cylinders but for all the radar/sunroof/tech package stuff that is probably way overpriced to fix. A base model might have a different (cheaper) repair profile than one that is all computer, but that is just a guess.

 

How much did your warranty end up being?

 

Same here....not worried about the engine or the turbo....just everything else.

 

I don’t understand why people are afraid of turbos. My BMW X5 is 10 years old with a twin scroll turbo inline 6 engine. It still drives like a dream. Fear makes insurance warranty co money. Stop throwing money away especially on one of the most reliable autos on the planet.

 

For platinum no deductible the dealer wanted $4k, got it from Jerry in Kansas for less than half of that. Mine is '23 so not 4gen, not sure how similar the pricing is.
