Mostly because of the spouts and lack of vents, the steel wavian cans are alot better. The 5 gallon can empties in less than 30 seconds with the right spout, the walmart ones take minutes due to the poorly thought out spout construction and no vents. If you ever use a wavian you will see the difference.

Dont need a spout when you just marry an aloe vera drink bottle to a spare gas cap the red neck way

It gets washed into the tank, cleans and lubricates the HP fuel pump, preventing viscosity and thermal breakdown

Get a couple Scepter cans from Costco. At $26 for 2 cans in store is a good deal. One thing about the Scepter cans is that 2 will fit perfectly in a large size recycling bin. Makes them easier to secure.

Just my 2 cents on the fuel container debate, it’s not so much the type of approved container you use but the location you store it on/in your vehicle. It’s already been said by a few in this thread that they have had their cans leak, now imagine that can leaking all over your camping gear in the back of your truck. Fuel containers like the rotopax just give you the ability to easily mount it outside of your rig and in case of a leak it won’t contaminate your camping gear.

Only thing the army gas cans or rotopax have over the other options are endless options for mounting. That being said, I'm not convinced there's anywhere within 1000 miles of me that I couldn't go with simple planning for fuel fill-ups along the way, and an extra cheapo 5 gallon container would do the trick if I wanted the extra insurance.

As for storing gas on the truck long term/at all times, I don't see the point. I've been there, done it, and learned.

If anyone is running Scepter military 20L cans, where are you sourcing them from? I know they don’t sell new in US, but some of the used ones are so beat up. I personally know those things can take a beating from using them in the Army and now the Navy since 2009.

I second the red safety can.

It's round. It's cheap. It's uncool. Instagram influencers hate it. It's the best damn can I've ever owned.

This is what I use to fill my Camaro and made by Tuff Jug . It also features their patented Red ripper fast fill valve . This valve can empty 5 gal of fuel in a tank in under a minute
