OZ, you could always install shorter pistons on that box so the lid doesn't reach as high. Just a thought.

I have a carpeted headliner so it wouldn't be a huge deal if it contacted the cap roof , I'm more concerned that if the lid doesn't open to 90 degrees I may not be able to get my tools that are in cases out of the box as they need to slide straight up

Great information here. I just can't decide if I want to go with this or the less expensive action packer.

Do you mind posting some pictures of how you mounted it to the bed rail?

Yea, no problem! I'm in for the night (still writing reports for work..) but can grab a few pictures in the morning and post them up. It's a bracket I made that consists of 1/8" slotted steel bar, 3/8" bolts, and various washers and nuts. I'll try to explain it some when I get some pictures so it'll make more sense than just words.

As for the action packer, I thought about those too, but still had the issue with having to tie/hold down the boxes. I also just kinda like the look of a toolbox in a truck bed. lol

Hope this helps some. I used 1/8" flat steel bar and 3/8" bolts, neoprene washers, lock washers, and nuts. I always use one size smaller on steel washers so they aren't as loose, so the ones I used are 5/16". The drilling into the box part was more or less easy.. I measured an found the height of the rails from the bed and then used the length of my steel to figure out where I needed to bolt it.

The warranty for the box says more than 2 holes MAY void the warranty, and with two bolts it just didn't seem secure so I went ahead and put four. If it voids the one year warranty then oh well lol

Attaching it to the rail was the hardest part. I found some 3/8" speed nuts that fit perfectly into the rails and catch the lip when tightened down. I had to use multiple washers and nuts along with a 3.5" long bolt to tighten against the steel bar an then tighten against the bed rail. I essentially used the bolt as a threaded rod. It's been on for almost two weeks and I have had no problems what so ever. Taken it off a few times and it's quick and easy by myself.

Hope that helps! Let me know if you have questions. I can try to link a picture of the exact speed nut I used later.. On my phone right now and don't feel like dealing with it.
