Something I’ve done on a few other vehicles as well.

    or your brand of choice….
Truck Motor Door Cover Trunk (Black, 26.25 feet) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GS57TX7

Anyway, it’s a bit more difficult to close the doors, but it’s minor and the difference in reduced road noise is impressive. At least to me. Great bang for your buck. I used 2 - 26’‘ rolls.
Make sure to clean surface with some alcohol and apply in an area where they will make contact with the body to expand. I concentrated on the front of the door hinge area and all around the doors for the most part.

You should really leave a cut out at each of the drain locations on the bottom edge.

A pool noodle or what I used was black pipe insulation between the bed and the cab made the biggest difference. I have no complaints with noise in my truck but the pool noodle did make it a lot quieter.

GM has used this method for years and it is quite effective.

Where exactly are you putting that?
I thought the bedside/cab has a rubber strip there.

Tucked about 6 inches up between the cab and body.

Do you have pics of the pool noodle between the cab and the bed? I have never heard of that before

The pool noodle is a really ghetto workaround for the actual solution: some open cell foam in the rear baffle behind the seat.

The issue is that on the back wall, behind the seats, there is an open vent exposed to the world used to vent air pressure out when e.g., closing the doors. That vent is exposed on the back side of the cab, where the cab meets the bed, roughly just above the transmission. Engine, diff and road noise comes up in the gap between the bed and the cab then through the baffle on the rear wall.

People put pool noodles in the gap between the cab and the bed on the bottom side (push up from below), blocking noise from being able to come up to the vent on the back of the cab.

It works but so does pulling off the rear plastic cubby behind the seats and filling the vent hole with some open cell foam which is what people do when thoroughly soundproofing the cab. It's summed up nicely with some exterior pics showing how bad it is here:

Yep might be ghetto but it only takes laying down and shoving it up in the space. People have said that it will damage the paint, it will cause problems, etc.

Here’s what they don’t tell you:

I’ve put 37k miles on my truck since May. When I put the pool noodle in I used a sharpie to mark orientation on the pool noodle. Hasn’t moved up or down, twisted, or basically budged.

I have a Softopper as I’d rather use the weight for gear than a hard camper shell. The pool noodle keeps the front window of the Softopper in place, keeps it cleaner, and if you open the back window it’s a hell of a lot quieter. It also gives you an anchor spot for the front flap of the Softopper if you have issues with it flapping. 550 cord around the noodle to the flap and problem solved.

The pool noodle helps keep dust from coming up between the cab and the bed.

It also helps prevent water from coming up under the topper seal at the front of the bed in that poor design area with the gaps. Don’t know why it just does

It also helps keep more dust off the back of the topper.

And a lot of times they are free. A lot of people chuck them out at the end of summer and pool season.

Someone on here got theirs from a dumpster. I got mine from a neighbor that was throwing several out.

The pool noodle also makes a great seal between the tailgate and the end of the bed when you put in a snail armor plate. Keeps the dust out. The black pipe insulation noodles work good too.

In June I came across a couple on a logging road in Canada. They had misjudged a low tree and ripped the left front mount on their roof rack out of the roof. I didn’t have silicone caulking, neither did they, but a cut in the always handy pool noodle gave him something that would fill and expand creating a barrier in the hole.

To each his own. May be ghetto, but it works for me. So do a lot of other things on this truck but I’m out of warranty in less than 9 months of ownership and what I do/ have done/ used on my truck I can’t recommend to anyone still in warranty. My truck has been my lifeline. It gets more than recommended because it is just that.

I want to see pics of this pool noodle placement. I’ve thought about adding some foam behind the seats to quiet things down inside the cab but nothing outside..

.....both good points, but wouldn’t that noodle trap water when it rains?

That other post has the guy pulling the bed off, I’d think the back seats would be easier......and the noodle in minutes.

There are a LOT of posts about pool noodle hacks if you do a search.

Basically it involves cutting one to size, crawling underneath and stuffing it between the bed and cab. Some recommend pulling the ends downward slightly to allow for water runoff. Some swear by it, some don't. Haven't done it yet, but seems like a cheap/easy experiment if you have 20 minutes with nothing to do. ;)

    Here's a photo @Meclizine posted a while back:

    IMG_20211106_123452115.jpg

Another, slightly more involved behind-the-seat pool noodle option posted by @nightcrawler:

    IMG_2887.jpg

    Hope that helps!

Cool I’ll check that out, all new to me!

I’m guessing it’s a pita to pull all of the seat out like that.
.....is that rear the window mechanism in the middle?

Yeah that’s for the rear window. Make sure whatever you try it keeps that area clear.

I did the pool noodle as well, super easy to do and dead cheap. 10,000 miles later and it hadn't moved.

That said, I didn't notice a difference but mine was not loud to begin with (very quiet actually).
