Someone must have experienced this already, but my 2010 Tacoma has extremely slow wipers at all times, and if it is very cold, they stop on the intermittent settings. Has anyone else seen this problem, and if yes, was the fix replacement of the wiper mechanism, or was it the wiper motor?

****** Changes are below this *****

Those of you who suggested cleaning and greasing the wiper transmission, and checking for binding in the motor linkage were closest to the issue ... I believe it was TacoTuesday1 who listed these.

At any rate, the assembly that I had replaced was the Wiper Pivot and Link Assembly. The part is a WLTA05 and I am fairly certain that it is not a Toyota part.

Nonetheless, it works great now. I can hardly believe the tremendous difference that changing this assembly out has made.

Thank you to all those who had suggestions for me to pursue in resolving this irritating problem.

I had a problem on another vehicle. The range of motion instead of 11-3 o’clock was more like 12-230. Every time someone yanked on it to stick an advertisement flyer under it became worse until finally it would barely move. I pulled the arm off the shaft and a bunch of aluminum power came out. I replaced the arm which solved the range of motion issue. It’s pretty easy to check, move the lever up like you’re planning to replace the blades, check the arm to shaft connection for excessive play.

I also ended up needing to replace the motor. It was one of the types that had the operating range, then when turned off moved lower to its parked position.

I mean it can only be one of 3 things:

Voltage drop to the wiper motor.

Something binding in the wiper transmission/linkage.

    Failing wiper motor.

Your gona have to dig into it and see.

have you checked the voltage supply

some wiper transmissions sieze over time and are maintainable by taking apart to clean and grease. Not sure if the Tacomas is (maybe) or if it’s not much difference and low cost hopefully to replace it

I would go with what Dm93 said, but I would lean more towards a slipping or binding linkage.
