Well it has begun, it's a work in progress. Fits in the truck nicely, I haven't decided on how I want to secure it to the bed yet (most likely those rivnuts) I'll make a post if my cap ever comes in so I can start to mount everything. don't mind the messy work area.

Looks great! What is the second layer of horizontal extrusion for? I’ve been planning a drawer system and came across the extrusion frames today, so I’m reading everything I can before committing to either a wood or extrusion frame

Looks like he's using it as a clean and secure way to get a lip for bolting the plywood panels in nice and flush. Can be done cheaper but hard to argue with the convenience and clean results.

I am trying not to buy those expensive draw slides, the extra extrusion is to hopefully keep the draw/tray from tipping up when its opened, I also ran a couple along the base to allow the draw to slide better. The left side will be a storage draw and the right side will be a tray to hold my mountain bikes

Ohhh that's pretty clever. I bet you could put a strip of fabric (like what's used for furniture pads) on the extrusions or the bottom of the drawer to reduce friction and scratching.

Resurrecting to add my 8020 platform build as this was one of the only other spots I could find aluminum extrusion platform builds.

I used 2020, instead of 1010, and it's in our double cab 1st gen - but the dims could easily be modified for later gen beds. Put together a pretty detailed how-to guide here for anyone that's interested.

Really appreciate everyone's documentation in this thread, helped me to get my head around the project.

Love your build, I'm in the same boat as I finished a full wood platform that is too heavy. Out of curiosity could you share the extrusions you ordered from TNutz?

    Cheers

I'd be curious as well what size extrusion you used. Did you go with fractional, metric, and which size? I think T-Nutz carries fractional only 1"X 1" or 1.5" X 1.5".

Hey all, I sold the Taco to a forum member, but I still have some new drawer slides for a full-length draw pullout I never got a chance to install. I was going to reconfigure this box. But won’t need to now, and they’re too long for the replacement vehicle.

56” full pullout drawer slides. I have 4 of them. They’re $190/pair. Effectively new. I’ll sell them to a Houston/Austin/SE Texas/San Antonio member for a good price. They’ve never been used. I just can’t ship these monstrosities.

    $250 for 2 pair? (4 total).

Sure, sorry just saw this message a month later. I’ve been meaning to make a Google group and share what I can. Give me a few days to get some personal life stuff sorted. Ping me in a week if I forget!

1x1 for almost everything, except the pieces I used to hold the drawer slides, those are 3x1

Appreciate it sir. With that in mind would it also be possible to share your sketchup file?
