I will take a look. I may have time on my hands as my employer is looking at a modified work schedule during this COVID thing. Maybe one week on and one week off.

That's a great idea! TacoBoy should make a build thread for his build!

I had a good discussion with him a while back. He said I am also welcome to come up and go camping he will even help clear with the tractor and haul me in some rocks for a fire ring. I'l have to watch for bears but that isn't any different than when we go alot of other places around here

Sounds like you have a good relationship with the landowner. Good for you!
    What do you hunt?

Deer and Bear. I don't kill bears all the time I mostly just enjoy watching them. I have killed 3, 2 with a bow and one with a rifle. I doubt i ever kill one with a rifle again but never say never. I've killed a few really nice deer but mainly meat hunt. I used to put 7-8 deer a year in the freezer its all my daughters knew for red meat growing up. They have both hunted as well

My best one up there so far. 9 years old, field dressed 200 pounds. 22" 12 point with a 7 3/4" drop tine

Wow! That's a dandy! It sure is nice having venison in the freezer.
I live in a decent area for deer hunting. California calls it a premium zone. There are fewer and fewer deer, and fewer tags every year. I am only able to draw a tag once every four or five years.

I can't claim any skill involved I just walked up on him. I had seen him a couple of days before in the same area which is why I was there. Some of the only white oaks on the property

White oaks are like a candy store! I love hunting around them.

I haven't hunted as much in the lst few years but our limit here is 2 a day. Only 3 bucks but you can just keep on killing does aslong as you buy the tags

Oh you ought to see this spot. It's my favorite spot 3 logging roads come together in a bottom with a creek and a small grove of about a dozen white oaks

That is completely different than my neck of the woods. Your deer must grow on trees.

My best spot is a strip of oaks between a swamp and a thicket. They come in from both sides.

I just found it a couple of years ago (public land). It's been good so far.

I can't handle public land around here. You either run into city people drinking or guys runing dogs for bears. Not my cup of tea I appreciate quiet peace

It does suck at times. I've found some spots that they don't seem to like to hunt for whatever reason. I've hunted the same 40 mile radius for 28 years so I kinda know where the other folks are gonna go.

Love that drop tine! I shot one with a bow in 2003 with a drop. Our deer don’t weigh here in NC what they do in VA. This one weighed 195 on foot and that’s about as big as they get around here. He scored 165 1/8, 13 pts.
