Disable your ABS and open a can of shit for yourself if you are in an accident and
    someone is seriously hurt:

    http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/rules-regu...csrruletext.aspx?reg=571.135&keyword=antilock

S5.3.2. For vehicles equipped with ABS, a control to manually disable the ABS, either fully or partially, is prohibited.

NOTE: on the provided link above are clearly written testing criteria for braking systems. Go and test
according to these parameters and if you find discrepancy 1) have Toyota fix it

STFU if all you want to do is complain about Tacoma brakes. Get off your slacktivist arse and get some work done.

Got about 10 inches at the house. Just enough to have some fun in. Haven't been into town today, heard Ray's was saying 4''-6'' but don't quote me on that.

Yea I wouldn't quote Ray for anything. Figures I leave and it dumps on you guys all Winter pretty much.

Good source, Everyone should take example of how to use a search function.

This thread is a good gripathalon.

These ABS arguments are truly older than the 90s.... 25 years of 2500 models that all have ABS that isn't what we want it to be. IT WONT CHANGE..... but your tires CAN change.

Think we can agree along this a bit.. ABS allows wheels to turn thus maintaining steering.. at the cost of stopping distance.... like it or not. $800 for tires with traction to me is cheap compared to a 25mph 3+ car pile up on stock tires, not that I had trouble on them.

So you go to a chevy, ford, Toyota, Nissan ETC and say "hey that's a nice truck and stock tires,I think they put them on cuz they do well in mud".
    I doubt it.

Then why would a stock tire be ".... they'll be the best on snow/ice/gravel/mud/slickrock/pavement/concrete/rain/puddles, all at once, cuz im buying them and I'm a good truck buyer and a dude".

Instead of beating the assumption the ABS must be bad or good, why aren't you going to a dealer to fix it if you know its bad. The fix is simple, study the tires out there, read on the site why people like a grappler or a duratrac, or Michelin, decide if severe winter rating, MT/ST whichever is best for you.

A person can post all they want about bad ABS, meanwhile inOregon, like Many states, there are 1000s of Tacomas passing me on the snowy/icy roadway driving safely no problem on the snowy roads.
100s of suburus and trucks going skiing at 40-50mph in a line, the only ones sliding out of line? Stock tire people or someone with an unsiped mud tire, bald even. Same old story for more than my 30 years of driving.

Either fix it if its broke or read what ABS is, not what we want it to be.

So hold on wait-did the ABS pull a gun on you or something? Beat the crap out of you? I don't understand how it almost could've killed you.

I'm not sure who you 2 are quoting.

If me Max, you read it wrong I'm for tires like Duratracs.

Fractured... ABS has done nothing to me bad. What few and minor activations were of road and never a big deal.

Narrowmindedness is not a virtue. I don't understand what kind of kick some people get from trying to piss all over someone else. It really shows their intelligence or lack there of. Good luck, God bless and drive safe.

LOL. Damn, Oz. Do you really believe "southerners" are limited (in travel, experience, etc) to just the South? If so, it'll probably surprise you to learn at least some of us have lived elsewhere as well. For example, I've lived not all that far from you (Tacoma & Bremerton WA), the New England area (MA & RI), and in northern Europe. Have driven in snow enough to at least have a opinion, without dismissal based on some silly stereotype.
