You must have just needed to get that out of your system... your posts since the OP haven't been at all what I was expecting. I was hoping to be able to post a little popcorn man before the mods shut the thread down and locked you out of TW for good, but it seems like you were just having a bad day.

Make the dealership fix it all and slow down a bit for the MPGs.

You just have to drive it like a truck... somedays i get into my S2000 and rally all day @ 9000rpm's & when i go to get into my truck I have to remind myself that the Taco isn't going to go 0-60 in 5.5... Another thing Warranties are great & use it while you have!! Good Luck!

I have an 09, which I love. But, I've had a leaky shock, radio doesn't work, ass end saggy with 600-700 lbs loaded, and twice it wouldn't start this winter (with very strange symptoms). I'm a little frustrated. But, I still love it.

Regarding MPG, it really does make a difference hw you drive it.

A test was done on Top Gear whereby a Prius was ragged around a track at it's max, with an BMW M3 follwoing it at the same speed. The Prius did about 17mpg, the Beamer 19mpg.

Stop ragging the Taco and it should return 20mpg.

Psh. These threads make me laugh.

I am by no means easy on my truck, both on and off road. I spend a lot of time in my truck (300+ miles a week, and have lived in it for awhile), never had any problems.

Remember the rugged trail vehicles were used for tests (from my understanding). They probably used it for some water driving testing or something, hence the rust (maybe salt water?) Again, warrenty so not a huge deal.

Also, I really, really, really, really find it hard to believe you had NO issues with the 91 300zx. I love them, but they're about as reliable as my love, 3000GT VR4's.

I can go for 2 weeks without having to fill up again. 18-city/20.5-highway

As far as Im concerned. Thats pretty damn good for a truck. Fords and Chevys dont get near as good of gas mileage.

Just be glad with what you have. Some people would kill to have youre truuck in this kind of economy.

Im not being an ass here. Im just speaking the truth

Well those are annoying issues even though most are covered under warranty. I have none of those problems myself, though. Bring it in to the dealer with your list and they'll fix you right up.

I sincerely doubt Toyota is selling a "test" (read as: used) vehicle as new.
I agree totally. I also had a '91 for a bit. My father bought it from me as a "fun" car and it was the best thing I ever did because he had a lot of "fun" working on it constantly.

FWIW, Next time get a Dodge Dakota......You will be BEGGING to own the WORST Tacoma out there.
Every time I brought my Dakota (aka Pile-O-shit) to the dealer...they said I "abused" it.....
AC broken (3 times) = Abuse
    3 widow regulators = abuse
    Rear axel = abuse
    Injectors = abuse
    Exhaust manifold = abuse
Water leaking into the cab = abuse

It was horrible.......Sometimes I have dreams that truck is chaseing me........
