The more stuff that is messed up in the front, the more money they give you. My Headlights, grill, bumper, and a few other things were messed up. Got a dink in the glass? Mention it to them, they will cover the windshield too. Did the deer end up on the hood? More money.

No, luckily my hood wasn't touched.. And while yes, I like the idea of more money... I also know that when replacing body panels, shit never Greeley goes back together right.. I'll put on a new fender, grill and hopefully plate bumper but I'm not touchin my hood!

I have hit three deer with three different trucks and insurance covered all but my 100 dollar deductible. The only time I have heard of insurance not covering ( other than the 'corpse clause') is when the driver hits another object along with the deer, i.e. tree, embankment, other car as well as the deer.
The after market grill made a whistling noise and took numerous trips back to body shop to locate the origin of the sound. Insurance paid to have a factory grill installed.
    Good luck !

When my mustang got hit by a flying 18 wheeler wheel ( long long story) they replaced, my front bumper, hood, intake, plenum cover, headlights, grille, roof, fogs, windshield, rood, dash, and a few other things. No damage to the rear end but still body shop told them one of my tail lights was scratched and replaced both.

looking back. I should have let them total that car. almost 17k in damage

Yes, that is what I meant a Plate Bumper. I get terms mixed up. Then again, most manufacturers call the same items different things.

Take the ARB Deluxe Bull Bar for instance. That is what it is called, not an ARB Deluxe Plate Bull Bar.

    Yet, I digress.

Sounds good to me! I've done enough driving that I know to basically run through animals (at least deer and smaller) instead of cutting one way or the other so needless to say I didn't hit anything else..

Oh ok cool.. Well then ya, I agree, my plan is to get a full plate bumper.. And I'd have to guess that probably calls it a "bull bar" because they're originally an Australian company.. Terms will be different

If it hasn't been said already, tell the Insurance people you want to take it to a shop of your choice. Thats when they cut you the check made out to you. They will then tell you to pay the shop your deductible.

I have used them for 10 years. Scientific literature suggests they don't work. My cabin is in a remote mountain community with tons of deer. All the locals use them. If they work 10% of the time! why not?:)

I remember when I was younger. Saw a few vehicles with the wistles on them. used to find them on the side of the road all the time. One morning, saw a car with a deer in the radiator, and the wistles on the ground in front of the vehicle.

Fair point on the 10%... Maybe if this goes through to me havin a personal check I'll add em. Course I don't WANT to hit a deer but if I do manage to get a plate bumper, I'd be interested to see the carnage from it.. Course with my luck, it'd flip it up into the windshield...
