I have Nationwide full coverage insurance as well. Hit a deer a couple years ago and messed the front bumper up on my 1st gen Tacoma. Got a police/Highway Patrol report done on scene so my insurance could not argue against me. Nationwide has a list of blue ribbon dealers. If you use a blue ribbon dealer Nationwide backs the work done to your truck with a lifetime warranty as long as you own the truck. Damage was a little over $1000. I didn't pay a single penny. No deductible either.

Ya... I don't "mind" warranties but typically have the opinion that I am my own warranty.. I'd rather do the work myself unless it's painting... And hopefully I don't need that report cuz I deff wasn't about to call 911 for this accident.... I litterally drove another hour after it cuz I was fine and my truck is mechanically.. Not gonna waste some cops time with that..

I drove my truck afterwards too. Most of the time a report is not needed. I was a new driver at the time and it was the first deer I had ever hit. Regardless Nationwide took care of it and I was happy with the quality of the work. Factory Toyota parts were used in the repair as well.

Ya I gotcha... See I've done repairs before and know that the factory parts (other than for color matching purposes) are really just over priced sheet metal that you can get much cheaper elsewhere... But I'll probably end up gettin some either off a member here or a junk yard somewhere if I can find my color.. The bumper I wanna replace anyway and the lights I know won't be a problem... The grill on the other hand with all my custom work will be a PITA!!

My wife got one too, a couple weeks ago in her H3 at about 45. Little damage, but let the adjuster look at it, and now an ARB is on the way.

    Sorry about your truck.

Actually, the area where the D rings are located, is a metal cover that is directly over the frame ends. The frame ends have plates that the D rings mount on. We think the buck hit there, and the rest of the damage was from his body conforming and pressing into the plastic facia bumper. The outer facia is fine, but the substructure that it affixes too, and hold the fog lights broke, plastic too. It also cause a small fracture in the plastic inner fender liner. So, the total was 1,341, minus our 500 deductible, and we're left with a check for 841. My cousin ordered me an ARB at his cost, and I'll end up paying around 400 ish out of pocket. It was either that or pay 500 and get it back to stock. Seemed like a win win to go with the ARB.

As a motorcycle rider I hate deer. Dumber than a box of blonde rocks. At least here there are not a lot of them.

Gotcha.. Ya that is lucky that it took the damage at the D-ring, I'm sure it did save you a good bit.. And makes sense on the bumper! I'm not a big fan of the ARB's but at that price...

I work with a guy that hit one a couple months ago on his bike. Split it right in two. I knew he had to be hurt bad when I came by and saw the aftermath. Other people from work had already stopped so I went on (Our work sucks on the attendance policy). He made it to work on time then ended up going to the hospital after about an hour there. No broken bones just bruised. Was back the next day.

Lots of other options to explore while you wait. Hope you get it squared away the way you want it, and painlessly.

If I had a option, The PelfreyBuilt has some great design to it. From what I have been reading, some people wanted it to be a thicker gauge steel.

The ATO had a Modular design, pretty slick.

I have felt that Manufacturers should go the route of having LED bar mounts integrated into them. Or as an option.

Realistically, I like my ARB. That huge lip on the front is very useful for me. It acts as a table, tool cart, spot to stand, and whatever else I decide to toss at it. Would be nice if it had Shackle mounts and a cutout for a Light Bar.

I like the Pelfreybilt but I also have the concers about the plating thickness..that thinner than almost any other bumper on the market I'm pretty sure.. I think if I can I'm gonna go with this CBI.. really like the looks and clearance, plus it comes with fog light cut outs included as well as having spaces that could be used to fit light bars like you talk about. I know that whatever I go with (if it's plate) I want grill and light protection.. Never really thought those were worth it till now

I hit one about 3 years ago, it cost over $4K to fix. Living in WV your odds are about 1/40 of hitting a deer. My co-worker hit one yesterday.

One hit me Thanksgiving night on a dark back road. Had to replace my driver side bed side and all the parts from my wheel up. I lost 4 days of my truck and some RuggedT decals. All in all, it could have been worse.

And no, I didn't get any deer meat!

Hitting animals is considered an 'act of god' by insurance standards. Would fall under the same category as if a tree fell on your car (either parked or while driving). If you have comprehensive insurance (one of the policies grouped under 'full coverage') then you will be covered, just responsible for the deductible.

As for a 'corpse clause', I have never heard of that. I know in NH that would be highly illegal, hell most of the moose that are hit get up and walk away (including the one that sat on my Subaru).

I didn't see mention, but did you involve the police in the accident? If not, call the local governing body and file an accident report, before you contact your insurance. EDIT: I read what you said about the police. Since it was just last night, call up and report it. They'll be able to find the corpse I'm sure. Most insurance companies wont cover you unless you have it.
