    Update!

So i cut the mount off (see picture 1) and im now in the process of either making a new mount or unthreading the the bolt from the stock mount. I tried drilling out the remainder of the old bolt but couldnt get it centered enough.

A little late, for future reference. Maybe not if the bolt shank is still stuck though.

Heat. A heat source was/is a must for this situation.

Heat the living crap out of area around the siezed bolt shank, glowing red hot. Idea being, the heat will expand the metal around the seized shank, making removal easier.

Vise-grips, Channel-locks, something with some good grip and start trying to loosen that shank. You may also have to work the shank loose/tight, loose/tight, loose/tight and you'll hear some good groaning out of the metal as it turns as well.

Take your time, re-heat, take your time, don't want to break shank off level with the bolt hole.

^Look at the first picture closely. The shank IS broken off level with the bolt hole. The 1st Gen. shock mounts are kinda strange. The bolt threads into a tube. The tube takes all the shock loads while the bolt is just there to keep the shock from falling off.

Should've used a screw extractor like the one Acidfly linked.

best advice given so far, make the screw surface into a flat head or a phillips head style

If the screw is seized so hard in there that the head sheared off, I don't think a flat screw driver will have enough grip. This truck has seen 14 years of Canadian road salt and humidity.

    Quoted for truth!
The guy broke a bolt in half by turning the nut with a wrench....... yall think cutting a slit in the end andusing a flat head will take the remainder out? LoL

Normally that works however the way the 1st gen Tacoma's rear shock is mounted at the top. I made a crude drawing to how what has happened with it. My best bet would be to hit it with heat then try to extract the remainder of the bolt. If that doesn't work it might have to be drilled and tapped.

Have you started soaking it yet? Or put heat to it?

He'll I think I'm too interested, maybe I should go break mine off so I can fix it lol

As some people have said, the bolt head broke off flush with the mount. There is no gripping the remainder of the bolt. Also there was no chance of drilling and taping it out while it was up there. So what i did is i cut the mount off almost flush with the welded washer in Pic 1

Im now attempting to remove the rest of the bolt out of the stock mount. If that doesnt work then i will make a new mount, drill it, tap it and then weld it on in the exact same place.

Question: I noticed that the old mount goes through the frame. Is welding this mount back on going to be strong enough?

with a welder handy, I could fix this problem in about ten minutes. Just weld a new bolt at the break, threads out, install the shock and use a few washers to bridge the extra length. The new bolt has no load on it, it only holds the shock on the "sleeve". Just like new.

Just weld the new mount on. If you do a good job welding it will hold.

So you've cut off the tube portion of the shock mount? Try drilling though remaining stub. Then you can just install the shock with a large nut and bolt the same diameter as the tube. See attachment.

yeah, i was thinking about doing that too. Might be easier than trying to tap a new mount.
