So...here is a better shot of the the component in question IMG_20200229_091414.jpg

Here is a shot with the Fab Fours Bumper bracket held up to this component:
    IMG_20200229_091308.jpg
the bumper bracket requires this configuration:
    IMG_20200228_182627.jpg
The bracket would not even sit level if I could use the top bolt hole with my component. It appears that the factory tow package replaces this whole component and would require different, threaded bolt holes in the frame. I do not believe that it would be worth the effort/money to install a factory tow package.

Below is where my CURT reciever hitch connects to the frame:
    IMG_20200229_081034.jpg
Removing it would not help me with bolting bracket to frame.

SOLUTION: I need to buy a rear bumper with an integrated hitch...assuming that it will not also need the 3 bolt configuration that the Fab Fours bumper needs. I am very open to hear suggestions...othewise, it's back to shitty, shatterable when barely touched, plastic stock bumper :(

You all are such a helpful community and I appreciate it so much...even that asshole guy...I can tell he just can't help himself, but at least he took the time to try and assist.

By the way...called the local dealership's service dept. to see if the factory tow package could be installed on my model...he didn't know...asked if I could talk to anyone that would know...he said no, that I would have to bring it in to be looked at. Seems like someone at the service dept of the dealeship should know that answer!!??!!

Go to the dealer and crawl under a Tacoma with the factory tow package. Compare it's frame end/hitch to yours. Bring a tape measure and take notes.

according to the picture looks like you have the bracket upside down... or the wrong bracket on the wrong side here in the fist pic (last post).. and try to slide the bracket back so that the bolts kinda line up. just want to see how far off it actually is... it is odd, but not unheard of for them to remove bolts/fasteners, but 2 bolts of this size should easily handle 10-12k lbs sheer...

Thanks buddy....understood that about 20 posts ago...please keep bringing it up though...it obviously brings you some sort of satisfaction. Can return the bumper...at this point just looking for an option that DOES NOT REQUIRE a factory tow package.

    Big-brain moves here.

It doesn't really seem like you do actually. You should probably just pay someone to do this.

Why? I don't care if you can install this bumper or not. I don't care if you can read the instructions or do basic research before you start. It's also really not that hard to get a couple of nuts and bolts and drill some holes. Unless you're the kind of guy who shouldn't be doing automotive work anyway...

so either you got the wrong bracket sent to you, or you ordered the wrong bumper.. any chance this may be for a tundra, and not a tacoma? check the packaging, and the box #'s...

    @Culturekid

Are you using the right bolt to line up from?

I highlighted the same area on both your truck and from the instructions; but it seems you're placing your bracket on the upper bolt, completely ignoring the space below where the correct placement is.

I'm not familiar at all with 2nd/3rd gen trucks, but is that hitch/bracket/etc. black plate removable? I'd bet you already have existing holes there to match up your bumper bracket.

unfortunately, it appears it is the right bracket for a Toyota Tacoma that HAS A FACTORY TOW PACKAGE. I now suspect that Tacos with a Factory Tow Package have a different frame component, not just the hitch and receiver, than one that does not.

Yep...that is a stock component of my truck...not the fab fours bracket.

I wonder if there even IS an aftermarket steel bumper that would attach to my vehicle's configuration? Fuck.

I guess what I mean is, the top picture I posted...that's your truck.

If you remove whatever part that is that I drew over...would it reveal the 2 holes you state you're missing?

Almost SURE that this will fit any Tacoma with the factory tow package.
