Depends on what sliders you've got. That's why I went with the beefed medium width sliders. Not as much step area as the oem tubes but more than enough to step on, clean the roof etc

I have finally finished reading 253 pages of what refer to as "truck porn".

I think I have decided to go with the BDS upgraded kit with the fox shocks.

I have two questions. My first one involves an earlier post about using total chaos UCA's. Blacktacoma 23 stated that he had to switch from his TC UCA's on his 3 inch lift to a set of TC UCA's with heim joints. Is this required or can I use the TC UCA's from my 3 inch lift that do not have heim joints?

Also there has been talk about using AP expo and/or Alcan leaf packs. I was going to buy the Alcan, but already have an AP leaf pack. However, it is not the expo. It is the full leaf pack they offer for thrre inch lift kits. Will this one work in place of the expo? The only difference I see is the weight it can handle.

2013 long bed double cad 4x4 is on the way as the prerunner takes an exit stage left.

    Congrats!

You need Light Racing Uca's or the TC w/ heims (Maybe Icon has compatible for 6" lifts:confused:) I need a little more adjustability out of my TC ucas for perfect alignment.

Get Alcans in the rear, shox are very long for my expos. and a 6" sping will look better with a long bed.

Edit: I ran stock ucas for a week and no issues since its stock geometry

The topic of heim & uniball uca vs standard tubular uca with uniball is A question i was going to ask. If you can run tube uca on a stock truck why would the drop bracket 6" which keeps the geometry relatively the "same" why would you NEED the arms with heim joints.

i had a pretty bad bro lean with my pro comp 6" lift and expos in the rear, and expos are quite a bit taller than the standards.

This was exactly the point I was trying to make, Thank you boss! well said. If the TC non-heim UCA is a direct replacement for stock setup, and the 6 inch works with stock uca's...why the heck would they not be interchangeable and work???

    Excess caster
You dont Need them, here is this from a Fj forum

"If I were you, I would keep the stock arms, or use the total chaos arms with heims. I am running the 6" Rough Country lift, and if Pro Comp is similar, they designed the bracketry to maintain proper caster angle with the stock upper. The non-heim versions of the TC arms will likely have too much caster.

I ordered the heim version, and actually dialed out some of the caster to get them closer to stock. See this post. UCA offsets and adjustments

Even with adjustment, they are still not back to stock geometry. When you adjust the heims, TC recommends that you do not unscrew them any more than 1/4 inch from where they are set when you get them. I ended up unscrewing the rears the maximum allowable amount, and turning the fronts in.

I also had one of the early versions of the Icon billet arms (made when they were Donahoe). These arms are even further away from stock geo when adjusted as close to stock as possible. I had many problems with them, and will never use Icon products other than their coilovers. It is possible they changed dimensions since then. I have never had a single issue with any TC product, and I have their upper arms on my FJ and wifes tacoma, and their front and rear lower arms on my FJ."

Nice thing about custom Alcans, you can choose:thumbsup:

Totally get that is the great thing about ordering Alcans, but I am asking what the drop in height is after they settle. Therefore giving me a good idea on what height to order them. Also would you order 1/2 inch higher on lean side?

I ordered my alcans for 350 lb extra carrying capacity for that very reason. and 6" lift

My springs are over 2 years old and the truck still sits just at tough tail high ( which is what I wanted)

Good info on the UCA options and issues! Interested in anyone else's alignment info on trucks with the 6" lift and non heim tubular uppers. Were you able to get it into stock specs. My concern would be finding an experienced alignment guy that can actually utilize the extra adjustment on the TC UCA W/ heims.
