It's not my first choice but found a used that I'm interested in.

So will the pro comp stage 2 with cool overs work on a 2012?

Pro comps website only shows a stage 2 for 05-2011 and a stage 1 only for 2012

I cannot express to you enough that the PC C/o's are crap off road. In fact, the whole kit is just not made for it. The amount of pre load on the fronts and adding blocks in the rear is just bad news for any functional off roading. I've been over this and so have a few others on this thread. If you are totally sold on going 6 inches, look at just doing the DB/spindle set only from PC, Fabtech or BDS and call them directly to inquire but DO NOT pull the trigger until you are 100% certain. Buying a used kit at a good price is never a good idea.
If you are in the for the look and never go off road, by all means do the 6". If you want to crawl over rocks, go fast down a wash and use the truck to its maximum capability.. you need to do more homework.

Thanks for the advice. For the price of this used kit I was going to do alcan leaf pack in the back instead of blocks. But if the pro comp coil overs are 'that' bad ill just avoid it all together and save up for the BDS with fox hardware. I do not off-road my truck (have a 06 long armed rubicon on 35s for that). But I would like it to ride very well and soak up washboard roads and poor condition dirt roads. I guess you get what you pay for haha

Or if you live in the South.....and just hit mud holes.....this kit is fine. :p Especially a Stage 1 with upgraded shocks & rear leafs.

The degressive rate icons are great at soaking up washboard roads, I can personally speak to just how well they do that because those kind of roads are all over where I live. Maybe one of these other guys can speak to Fox shocks. Regardless, they are all comparable and rebuildable. You don't even need remote reservoirs, they just look cool.

Trust what Scarlett4x4 is saying the PC CO's are complete crap they purposely build them stiff as hell and they are also not serviceable or rebuildable unless you send them to PC and they offer no valving options etc. The internals in a PC CO are junk piled in a non serviceable sealed cartridge.

If you are looking to run 35's I would offer this advice also - I would even tell you to be careful about BDS w/ Fox for one reason - no 6" kit actually clears 35's with a 4.5 BS wheel ( wich you must run to clear the spindles ) without trimming, cutting, hammering, removing flaps and inner fender liners and chopping your cab mount. Even just daily driving in and out of driveways over bumps with your wheel turned you have the potential to rip lugs off of your tires and tear up your fenders etc. I love the look of my DB kit but the fact is I had to go to 8" in the front with $4k custom King CO's to truly fully clear 35's under all circumstances.... If you can just buy the DB brackets and spindles etc only and do everything else custom such as the Alcan's you mentioned. Otherwise just run a 33 IMO.

A 285x75r17 is a 34 and will have no issues and still look really good. You will not need to regear or cut.

MWOAP is going the route like eatabullet did. Make the DB do awesome and then rip it all apart and go SAS. The bottomine is, do your homework and listen to those of us that have dropped the $$$ so you don't have to.

Not sure what kit you are looking at to swap into but I've found older Toyotas for under 6g that are ready to crawl.

Do yourself a favor and skip the DB lift. :D I hate mine. When it's time, I think I'm going long travel or SAS depending on where I get stationed next.

Don't get me wrong, I love my truck but after a few years of "educating myself" I would have done a few things differently. I like my lift but with it comes a few issues that I'm not fond of. It is still very capable on and off road (after a lot of work!). LT is a good way to go but it has it's own issues to deal with. SAS is awesome but expensive and hard to sell after it's done. Anyway, I love my truck but hind sight is 20/20. :anonymous:

Jason, I'm expecting full pictars and measurements of the finished product. You went the same, but totally different direction than I went (if that even makes sense) I'm interested to see what kind of travel and clearance you have when its all said and done.
