    Good way to do it. Just so you know the 4" and 6" the braketry is the same. Only difference is on the 6" they give you a small preload spacer that goes between the coil spring and top hat and the 6" comes with a 4" rear block versus a 3" on the 4" kit.

    If looking at the bds basic kit you might want to consider the zone kit as well. Zone and bds are both owned by the same company Sport Truck Usa. The kits are almost identical and you will save a lil money getting the zone. They also make a 4" and 6" as well. This kit can also be upgraded to different coilovers as well if you want later on whether icon or fox.

    The zone does look the same...but no lifetime warranty like the bds :spy:

    Definitely wouldn't mind saving $500 though. Guess I'll have to try and find anyone with the kits and how their lifts are holding up.

    Alright...new rule for the DB thread - no more DB bashing by DB owners, sure give people good advice about how to go about it properly but if I hear " might as well go LT " one more time I'm gonna puke. Add up everything to build an LT truck and you will find that statement is just not accurate at all.

    Buying custom CO's in no way costs as much as a LT kit and it's not that much more $ for the travel you gain. Remember that gaining just 2" of stroke at the CO form a custom built CO = 4" travel at the wheels. Unless you are comparing the cost of a real CO to the garbage cheap CO's that come with a DB kit then yes it is a lot more.

    There is nothing wrong with a DB truck IMO - the problem is the crappy DB kits with garbage CO's and blocks.


    Higher COG sure I will concede that fact but they do make spacers to widen your stance if you want to offset that...but technically the wider 35x12.5's you can fit with a DB add 4" + of width to your stance to offset the 6" of lift which is technically the same COG as a 2" lift on OE tires...ready debate

    Btw I have the zone that's why I recommended it. Bought the 4" and upgraded it to a 6"

    Ride is nice. Def install a new leaf pack and ditch the block. I went with the all pro expo w a 2" block w the bilstein F4-BE5-B110-T5 in rear and in front installed the longer bilstein 5100's used on the rcd kit f4-be5-e122-to and a 1/2 top plate spacer on both sides and 1/4" on driv side for the taco lean w extended ss brake lines front and rear as well. It is a solid kit and you won't be disappointed.

    I was considering a custom Alcan leaf pack, but that decision won't come for a while anyways. Thanks for the help! One more question...I have 17s...you think they can fit with spacers?

    Not sure on that one as it would depend on the inside of the wheel you would be using. The reason they recommend 18's is because the tie rod is moved to the top of the spindle mount. I am not fond on running wheel spacers.

    Hmm. I know blacktacoma23 is running 17 ballistic jesters with spacers on his bds kit. So hopefully I would be able to do the same with the zone.

    The zone and bds spindles are the same it just depends on the inner part of the wheel that you plan to use. Me personally I like a 18" wheel.

    You might be able to. If you get a spacers make sure to get a hubcentric ones.

    Get the bds...less cutting involved...best kit I've installed hands down...if you can afford it get the kit that comes with the fox coilovers. .the ride is awesome...I've installed a zone as well and the quality in the bds is alot better

    There is the same amount of cutting in both kits 7 1/4". The ride will also be the same on the basic kits or you can add the fox or icon coilovers to both.

    The zone that I did required the entire crossmember to be cut out where the bds just had a small section to be removed on the drivers side

    Also being as you are 2wd the cutting isn't as much as on the 4wd lifts...As you are not clearing for driveshaft and front diff...this is why most db lifts the entire rear crossmember has to be removed...A very drop bracket on a 2wd I've done required no cutting at all
