Haha, what's funny is I was thinking about this over my vacation. I plugged my newly updated andriod device to start pulling pics of my build and shenanigans but since the lollipop update, I can't get my media off.

I need to get that working and maybe I'll start one up. I'm doing surgery on my Icons this Sunday and an inspection after the last 3 trips. I haven't been under my truck since I got the drive line repaired.

    Possible build names or suggestions?

    "The Drop Bracket that could"
    "Mythical mid travel DB build"
"I crawl malls like a pro build"

I like the "Mythical mid travel DB build". That is hilarious and (to most) very true. Honestly, I was going to start a build thread so I can keep track of crap I do to my truck. I'm really forgetful about stuff. Just ask my wife when truck parts show up!

It kind of bugs me that there are so many DB haters that think a 6 inch lift can't wheel.... (because that extra 3 inches over most non-DB lifts makes it incapable...LOL).

There are a few of us who have definitely went against the grain on that one but you have to admit that most DB lifts are mall crawlers. Everyone is going to hate and most of them don't wheel themselves or have anything close to an original thought yet alone provide any factual data. I've been on the nasty trails and my extra clearance has saved me much carnage. In fact if I had 35s on this last trip to Elvis, I wouldn't of fucked my driveshaft on that rock when I slid over.

Still, I would rather have a +2 TC kit and SUA over my current build but that won't happen cause I'm too far in to give up now.

Not sure how you make it without running 35's. If I ran 33's I can see how people say you loose so much clearance at the cross member. I feel so much more confident with my truck coming from a 3" lift. I've gain so much frame, rear and front clearance its unbelievable. The only reason I haven't bought sliders and bumpers yet.

Anyone with a 3" lift would have defiantly high centered in that video posted. DB's do have their advantages...

I agree about the typical DB mall crawlers. I just don't understand that mentality. I've been driving and building off road vehicles (mainly Class 5 Baja bugs) since college and can't understand not wanting to hit the trails hard. But to each his own...

I'm living that stereotype, but eh there ain't much places I can wheel like you folks in conus. I would love to take it offroad, and trust me, I will. just not as hardcore. Plus I don't want to mess up such an expensive truck because I can't afford to get it fixed after haha. Oh and I just don't have the time to do much off-roading

I went with the 34s for a few reasons at the time. Remember what I did was unknown and I wasn't getting much help from the community. Dropping to 5 inches to gain travel and lose preload was just not common. Now that I've lost my flares and am prepared to CMC and cut fenders to fully clear 35s (not 315) its very familiar ground. I've had my truck apart many many times and can deal with not regearing, plus I've settled on a tire that is only 260 per vs 330.

There is less then 1" diff at the DB from my tires to 35s. The rear pumpkin still hangs lower. I deal with DB hate on a daily basis, it used to get me but then I realize that my truck sees more dirt and rocks than 85% of TW

Nice ! When you get invited to run Coral Canyon and you're deciding which trail to run the locals say " how much damage do you want ? " and " would you like a side order of body damage with that ? "

Here is another trick to " milk " travel out of your CO. ( see the pic ) When you take your CO's off you might want to look at this. That part of the bottom rod from around the 8" to 11" mark is nothing but an aluminum spacer that the bottom coil perch sits on. So, for example if you unscrew the bottom rod end and remove the spacer, put the bottom rod end eyelet back on and cycle the shock you may discover that your shock actually has a lot more available up stroke w/o the spacer. If it does you can simply cut that spacer down shorter to gain the stroke your suspension is capable of. IMO shock manufacturers limit the stroke well below what the suspension is actually capable of prob because they don't trust people to set their bumps properly to prevent shock damage.

Even the OE ProComp CO's have more travel available by simply swapping out that blue anno bottom coil perch for a shorter one. Compare the Taco and FJ ones... They give the FJ's more travel, exact same CO with a shorter perch = another inch of stroke. But...PC will not sell that sep part...I asked years ago.

The rears, I blew a seal in the rears :(

I hope I don't blow the fronts but I'll be sure to make sure the spacer is out. I order end them that way but you cannot verify it until they are apart.
