I'm at the tire shop...( see the photo ) but to answer the question - the length of the spring means nothing in regard to how it feels a 2" 600lb spring will feel the same as a 20" 600lb spring the LB rating is the " spring rate " period. The only difference is having a spring long enough to handle the travel or shock stroke you have. An 18" spring of equal LB rating will require the same preload as a 14" spring because the weight capacity is the same. I don't think any mid travel set up needs more than a 14" spring in regard to travel. I did not need a longer spring until I customized my set up and ended up with 10" of travel.

People are just going with 18" springs on DB's with taller shocks for looks IE so there is not a lot of exposed threads ( including myself ) from what I remember on the King sire the chart said I could use a shorter spring and still fully compress w/o spring bind.

Just to be clear - pre load has nothing to do with seeing threads it is simply when you put the coil on and then compress it by cranking down the collar. Compressing a spring by cranking it down to lift the truck is pre loading. Remeber our shock bodies are 6" taller than stock.

No, you would have the exact same problem...spring rate is spring rate buddy it doesn't matter how long a coil is you would still have to pre load it the exact same amount to lift the front end to compensate for your bumper and winch. According to DSM at 170 lbs you should step up to a 50lb higher spring.

Sorry I have been offline for a week out of town, what probs are you having ? Just a harsh ride ? or is it topping out ? both ? I'm gonna' PM you my cell # if you want to call and run through some of this stuff.

...and this is why you shop at Discount Tire and buy their warranty kids - that destroyed 35x12.5 Nitto Trail is only going to cost me $40 to replace :D

So I have had the Tacoma squeak for about 6 months, turns out it was the spare tire rubbing on the brackets. So if you havent ben able to find the squeak, pull and tug on your spare and see what happens.

Take it out. Buy a full size to have in the bed or another mounting solution. Kills me when I see a truck on 35's or bigger but, they still have the factory spare. Not really the most safe or ideal solution if you actually need to use it. Any if your on the trail and using 4wd your screwed

Offroad hard in general. I didn't wheel the truck as hard as I did when I took it off.
