Thinking of going LT after repairing a cut out crossmember makes me cringe a bit. But if done well an gusseted, it should be alright.

 

I think @iJonny had the right idea. Don't repair the cross member, just buy a new truck and start over.

 

That may have worked before the 16s hit because you could get a 2nd gen at a good price. Things have changed now though, prices are through the roof on used 2nd gens.

Except the fact mine is a 2015. I have a frame off a 2014 that I was just gonna cut the member at the frame and weld that on. Like nothing ever happened!

 

Tell me a way. I would be that guy. Just to find a set of shocks would be the tricky part haha.

 

Get them made. Regular LT shock plus the difference in the heights of a stock knuckle vs the DB one. Then figure out how to reinforce the dropped crossmember so when you bomb the truck shit dont break...lol

 

...and get new spindles and shocks and leafs and ....

 

So why has no one ever tried this? Is it so far out there that it is not feasible?

DB guys already take enough shit from LT and MT guys.

 

It is definitley doable. Would it make sense? Not really. But a 3.5" LT kit on the front with a Deaver spring set on the rear, spring under, bed cage, 18" shocks? Wow. But also top heavy enough that getting air with it would make me nervous. Not to mention tearing shit off because of the leverage of 35s on stock steering components, bearings, etc... Not sure how someone, who shall remain nameless, can run 37 x 13.5 Grapps on his truck and not destroy the wheel bearings.

 

But could you imagine all the travel you could get!!!

Was more thinking of the +2 style kit. Like, 14" rear shocks with shackle flip, extended shackles, LEAF PACK instead of blocks, front extended travel super long coilovers, UCA and LCA, limit straps, disconnect away bar? Seems do-able. I guess I'm talking MT. I want an MT build. Not LT. I would never use it where I'm from, maybe just whamming potholes
