    Howdy,

I have a Lil’ B 3rd Gen front bumper on the way and a Warn Zeon 10-S winch. Here’s the $100(ish) question:

Does a guy in my shoes go with a 1” or 1.5” fairlead? It’s a $20 difference in price but does the angle difference make that big of a difference in line protection? Would love to hear from anyone but especially someone that’s been in this boat and had to choose.

    Have a good holiday weekend!

    Nathan

    Get the 1.5”.
    Is it necessary? Prob not.
Does it give you 8° more winching angle before ripping into anything else? I dunno, maybe: you see, “8°” seemed like a believable number to throw out there after having only recently seen the option to go 1.5” instead of 1”. Sure, it’s $20 more, but if you’re about to blow $20 you actually might need on a hawse fairlead, you’ve got bigger problems.

It depends on the angle of your line feeding into the fairlead, when you are on the final wrap of the spool. I am also assuming that you may be using cable instead of synthetic.

For synthetic, I would go with a 1" hawse, Reason being is the canted angle of the mounted hawse "could" allow the rope to rub on the bottom edge of the cutout in the bumper. I experienced this possibility when I mounted a Badlands hawse on a Hiline bumper. I had to file down and round out the bottom bumper cutout edge a bit. A hawse with a longer projection may have mitigated this.
