What he said. And in case you don't know what that is....

Your ignition has a little "scanner" in it (I'm sure it has a real name but I just call it a scanner). And your key has a computer chip in it that is specific to your truck. When you put the key in the ignition, the scanner in your ignition scans for your your specific computer chip. So if you were to take your key to a locksmith and pay him a few bucks to make a copy, that new copied key wouldn't work because it doesn't have the specific computer chip in it. You would have to buy a key with a chip already in it, and then get it programmed to your truck in addition to getting it cut.

It seems like your truck doesn't have an alarm at all. It probably just has a remote to lock and unlock your doors. That's what my truck had until I put a Viper alarm and remote start in it. I did the install myself and did a write up of it here in case you're interested. (Here's where I shamelessly promote my own thread :D) It was my first and only install. It seems like a lot, but its actually not that bad. There have been a few guys that have followed it and successfully installed the system in their trucks. If you decide to do it and have any questions at all, PM me and I'll get back to you as fast as I can.

Damn your write-up has everything. As I see it's almost exactly how mine went, but it would've also helped me too, well mines already done.

Plus where did you get your diagrams? I got mine info on http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/forum_posts.asp~TID~46111
