I've read multitudes of threads about the factory battery being a piece of shit and didn't last long at all.

I bought my truck Halloween day 2018, and "knock on wood" it's still going strong.

Do these trucks give you a warning before the battery takes a shit? Like turning over slow?

I've owned a Ford Explorer and a few Mustangs. None of them gave any sign at all the battery was going bad. One day it just wouldn't start.

Had a Advance Auto Silver battery in my 2000 Jeep TJ that lasted close to 7 years. It was still going good when I replaced it during hurricane season...didn't want to chance it.

That's a battery thing, not a vehicle thing.

All depends on if the battery is failing or just flat out fails.

My battery had a bad cell at 33 months into my 36 month warranty. Toyota replaced it free. My Daughter has a 7 year old Scion with the factory battery. Seems like Toyota batteries are hit or miss.

Still on my factory battery too, keep a jump-box in the truck just in case it ever fails without warning.

OEM batteries are just like other products...some last a long time where others prematurely fail due to poor quality control. I bought my truck in August of 2018 and I'm still on the original battery. I do check its' health occasionally with a charger that desulfates. The faster the battery "tops off" with a charger is a good indicator of battery health and mine will generally top off within 2 minutes. I do this every 3 months. I bought a new 1998 S10 Blazer 4 x 4 for my wife (4.6 liter V6 known for eating batteries) and it didn't matter if I bought the cheapest lead acids all the way up to the best Delco's and Die Hards...none would last longer than a year and a half. I doubt this truck will give me warning when the battery gives up the ghost. That's why I carry a booster on board. My wife's CH-R has a booster on board also. You never really know when a battery is gonna' go.

my 2016 the battery lasted over 3 years, i changed it before it died. the entire time it would get corrosion build up on the positive terminal and i had to clean it regularly. i replaced with just a costco battery and no corrosion at all.

Just replaced mine after 6 years with a costco interstate. When the battery voltage doesn't stay above like 12.6 overnight, the trip ODO and mpg calculations reset. It'll still start but ODO will be on instead of trip A/B. Much like it was before I had my gauge cluster replaced many years ago under the TSB. That's when I replaced mine, wouldn't hold charge overnight but wouldn't be dead either.

Mine lasted 4 years before startup began to slow down. I confirmed the degradation with a multimeter. I always have my charged NOCO jump/charge pack in the truck.

I am one of those guys that swaps out batteries before they start to go south. Once I hit the 5 year mark with a car battery, it gets replaced with a new one. Running on borrowed time with a battery makes no sense!

Not sure who makes the OE ones now but on my 2010 the Panasonic lasted 10 years. Gave me one click one night. Jumped it the next day after taking 30 minutes with a hair dryer to open the hood. Jumped right up but wouldn't hold it after shutting it off..I was already going to buy a new battery but a minor PITA to have to jump it every time while going to get one and then going to my parents' house to swap it.

This was on a single digit temperature weekend of course ugh.

My wife's old 2005 Rav4 battery lasted 11 years. Wouldn't start one day. Jumped it and held the charge but I knew we'd had it a few years so cheap insurance to replace it. Never thought about it until I pulled the old one that it was the OE.

Living in MA I always figure it's not a shock to need a battery one year before the time it's sold as lasting for.

Wise move especially depending on your profession etc. My friend does the same thing, his job is driving his vehicle all day and he lives alone so not as simple as using another vehicle if his is disabled.

My wife's 2019 Prius had the starting battery go bad last month. No warning at all, just nothing. I used my jump pack to start it, drove it around for a hour. Next day same shit so I had it replaced, no more issues. That one lasted 2 1/2 years. Hopefully the one on my truck will beat it, but I still carry the jump pack in the truck.

Mine was 4 years old and going strong but I replaced it with the Toyota Truestart 27F to be on the safe side and added the 2nd Gen 27F battery tray which drops right in. I replace my batteries before they go bad which I think is about 4 or 5 years. The Toyota Truestarts are made by Johnson Control and are rebranded Interstates, one of the84 month warranty and cost me $129. My dealer says they are delivered by Interstate.
