They’re so small, cheap, and convenient(stay charged so long) there’s no reason not to! Added benefit- you can help someone else in need and not have to worry about problems a jump may have caused (no good deed,,,)

They are reasonably powerful too, jumped a few V8's with it. Helped a guy with a Chevy truck, he didn't think it would turn his truck over but it got him going just fine.

I feel like a parrot saying this, because I have posted it a time or two. My OEM Battery leaked at the caps a few months after buying the truck new and was replaced with a Toyota Truestart 84 month warranty battery. At almost 6 years old it's about due for replacement. It likes to hang at 12.3v as of late. I keep a ctek charger on it every now and then, but it's starting to struggle a bit especially on hotter days.

Probably going to see about swapping it under warranty next week. AZ summers are no joke and nobody wants to be stuck on the side of the road in 115-118 degrees. :bananadead:

This and the positive battery terminal corrosion mentioned earlier is why I ditched my OEM battery a few months ago.

Whatever you do, don't open the thread about that guy's engine exploding. :)

Funny how you hear stories about the OEM batteries lasting 7 years and others going Tango Uniform in 2 years. It's like anything I guess, sometimes they last and sometimes they don't.

My oem delco battery lasted nearly 10 years in my 2001 tundra. I expect no less from this tacoma one, or is this wishful thinking?:notsure:

Coming up to 5 years on my OE battery, no signs of trouble yet. My expectation, based on past real life data, is 7 or 8 years on a battery, hope I get that on this one. I have been driving for about 40 years and all of my battery failing experiences have been - noticeably slow cranking in the morning. I am aware they can fail immediately with no warning but I am just saying in my experience I have always had warning. I do not fool around and I get a new battery as soon as I get the slow crank experience. It is not hot where I live, that kills batteries fast for sure.

My 17 battery was replaced in 2019 and I bought the truck used shortly after. Lasted 2 years and I noticed it would die after about 10 days of not starting it. Got a EverStart Platinum AGM at Walmart for $150 in December last year, so far so good.

Unfortunately, my '17 is well out of warranty, but still going strong.

Fortunately, I carry a 1500amp mini booster pack.

I have a 18 and its working fine. How will it act when it dies? Depends on what goes wrong. The environment you live and drive in probably has more to do when and if problems start than anything else. Heat is much harder on battery life than anything else. I have lived in NDak (cold climate - used to have to plug a head bolt heater in at night to allow them to turn over in the morning) and hot (Tuscon, Idaho, etc) and have replaced way more batteries due to heat than anywhere else. Usually they last 4-6 years and then start sputtering before dieing quickly Dont worry about it as replacements are everywhere..

A quick check for parasitic power draws help also, especially if you have lots of aftermarket add-ons.

Every battery i've had in my trucks for the last 30 years gave no warning when they were going to fail. When it was time, you were sol.

I replaced my 2017 factory battery last year before winter. 5 years is about my replacement time frame. I didn't want to be left stranded somewhere with my young kiddos so I always replace ours before winter on the 5th year regardless of condition

I would give $100 each for fresh pharmaceutical ones.

They still make them in South Africa, but I've yet to talk anyone into going there to score me any.
