I know it’s been posted many times before but throwing out there for any new members wondering about bed mats. The factory Toyota bed mat is the way to go if you’re looking for best quality. While pricier than others, it’s way thicker, heavier and more grippy for controlling things rolling around. If budget isn’t your number one concern…I’d highly recommend the factory bed mat.

And if you keep an eye out on the dealers parts website a lot of times they'll have discounts on them too! I got mine for $108 from the dealer back in July.

If I could only choose one modification, it would be the bed mat. I do not know why or how I did not have one in my 2016, but I was missing out.

I have the factory mat and I do love it. Some sort of bed mat is a must have for keeping smaller items from flying around in the bed. Then easily rolled up and removed when you need to load something heavier. In my previous 2nd gen, I saved money by purchasing a rubber floor mat from Home Depot and cutting it to fit around the wheel wells. That worked pretty darn good for $40.

I've gone years without the OEM bed mat. I just used generic rubber material in both trucks.

My most highly recommended upgrade. Best $100 I've spent hands down. Nothing moves on it. It's heavy and adds some bed weight in winter. I can take it out and pressure wash it when I wash the truck, so I don't have to take off my top to clean a sleeping surface before camping. If you use your truck bed, just buy one when you buy your truck.

Relatively speaking its not that expensive. I find it amusing that people will drop close to a grand on tires without batting an eye, but will shy away from a $100 mat. I got mine used for $60 from a local TW swap. Does everything it is supposed to do.

I got mine for...$84 (I think?) during a labor day sale. Some dealership in Florida had it on special, PLUS...free shipping. I know that was a huge savings just for the shipping. So I made out like a bandit.

I paid $84 + tax. Worth every penny. Will probably outlast the truck.

Nice. Similar to my setup. OEM bad mat, OEM LED bed lights, and trifold cover (I have a BakFlip G2).

I'm a newbie, so please forgive the potentially dumb question in advance: will the stock bed mat fit in the Trail Edition? Wasn't sure due to the boxes in the bed.

Probably not. Because those bed boxes change the width between the wheel wells. But, you can always get out an knife and trim it around the wheel arches if it doesn't.

$84 + tax is a no brainer. I paid $160 on Amazon (free shipping) and was happy to pay it versus the $120 aftermarket options I looked at.

I have an aftermarket one that I bought for my 2nd gen way way back in 2012 that I got from autozone. It was custom fit to the Tacoma with the on,y difference is no Tacoma logo and no cut outs for the 2 bed loops. Other than that it’s just as thick ( that’s what she said…). And all I did was move it to my 3rd gen. All dimensions were the same.

I think I paid like $60 for it when back then the OEM ones were $100+. I ain’t no baller like all you OEM folk.

Yes but not by much. Hard to believe we disuss the merits of a flat piece of rubber at all!
