Anyone know what brand Toyota used as the factory fuel pump? Mine has started making a high pitched whine. Looking to replace it. Thanks!
Also any brands to stay AWAY from?

Would removing the bed be the easiest way to swap the pump? I really don’t wanna drop the tank unless I have no choice. Also since the pump has been noisy at idle I’ve noticed my battery voltage has been low. It drops to high 12s low 13s at idle. Never has did that. Battery is brand new. At first I though alt was dying. But it holds 13.8-14.2 at rpm.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
Yes moving the bed is not bad though here in eastern Pa I have had to cut the bolts off for the bed .

The fuel pump bracket was not going be removed with out breaking .

No rust worries. It’s always been a southern truck. No salt.

Quick update: I replaced the fuel pump started it up and it was quiet as it should be. Fast forward couple days soon as the truck warms up at idle new pump is making the same whining and vibration as the old pump was. I put everything back in exactly how it should go. When you give it just a hair of throttle it quiets down comes back to idle and the pump goes to whining and groaning. It even vibrates the bed a bit. I’m completely baffled. It was a denso replacement pump. Matched up exact.

My pump whined after replacing it. Very high pitched and not super noticeable. I used a Bosch. Never really thought twice about it. No codes and it runs great

My old one was very quiet until lately. It was oem so I figured it’s going out. New one just had the very low hum like it should until today. Now it vibrates the cab it whines so bad. But just a hair of throttle and it stops??? Very strange. Fuel filter maybe?

Do you have a scan guage, or blue tooth monitor? I'd be looking at the voltage, and see if there is any correlation between voltage differential and pump noise. ... Which is a fancy way of suggesting, take a look at your battery and alternator to make sure the output is good. And also maybe inspect / clean any of the looms connected to the fuel pump. I know there was one under the driver seat in my double cab that the fuel pump got power from.

Yes I have a scan gauge and I’m about to install a new alternator. However the pump still makes the whine at 14 volts. That is exactly what I thought the issue was. At idle if I flip on headlights while it’s in D volts creep down to 12-12.5. Put in P and they jump back up to 14. However the pump still makes noise at the 14volts. If I barely give it gas it stops.
It could just be a vibration in the gas tank area. It runs perfect, just weird it’s never had this issue before. I just knew it was the oem pump dying. When I had the bed off and replaced it it had no sound at all at idle aside the normal “hum”. Which makes me think a vibration somewhere.
I’ll post back soon as I get the new Alt on to see if it makes a difference.

UPDATE: Threw on the new alternator today, took care of all the whining from the pump. Watched my scan gauge and where my voltage had always jumped around quite a bit it now sits at 14.2 almost steady. It hasn’t done that since I’ve installed the scan gauge.
I guess the 20 year old alternator was tired lol. Good to know that my 20 yr old 235k mile factory fuel pump was still going strong after all.
