Anyone swapped out an 05-11 headunit with a 12-15 stock one? Is this possible?

FWIW, I replaced my stock 2010 unit with a Kenwood double din unit. It includes Car Play, Bluetooth, Sat Radio, speaker phone, and I can use all my steering wheel controls. I even added the phone control buttons to the steering wheel.

All in, including all the wiring and accessories, I think I was under $700 with the majority being the head unit cost (splurged on that).

my friend has that in his 2012, he doesn't like it and it doesn't have Airplay or other upgrade, the Pioneer or the JCV has all that, two chargers and a lot more. Plays movies too!

The same shit everyone else has.
Search my name. I did a big write up/DIY on upgrading from early style radio to an OEM touch screen radio.

Things won't operate as they should without the proper cable and antenna adapters. You'll get more functionality out of an aftermarket unit for roughly the same cost. Depending on the head unit you go with, GPS, backup camera and phone connectivity are much better than the stock units. Check out Crutchfield.com, at least for reference, as to what's available and what it takes to make everything function. There are lots of options out there.
