When Toyota updates a part, they don't generally discontinue the old one, they will just supersede it to the newer number. In cases like this one where a part that is still in production is discontinued, it is usually because Toyota no longer wants to sell that part individually and you need to order an assembly. That is what happened in this case, instead of selling the amplifier by itself, you are forced to buy the entire seat heater assembly with the heater, wiring and amplifier.

In this case, the part is no longer even in the diagram for the seat, not selectable, and not listed anywhere. It's no longer a serviceable part.

    Canadian TSB is 5153.

82167-04030 is not the wiring harness that plugs into the amplifier/ECU, it is the wiring harness that plugs into the wiring harness that plugs into the amplifier/ECU, which is why it's not needed.

If you do find an amplifier separately, and want to repair the connector, the information was just posted. It's a Molex connector, part number 39-01-4050 and the terminals are part number 39-00-0039 (need 5).

Originally when you could order the part, it actually came as the amplifier/ECU with the small harness coming out of it (at least on the 2013 Tacomas that used 87501-04020).

Thanks Jeff. Gateway helped me out thanks to you. All I needed was 87510-04050 and 1.5 shop labour and it is now fixed.

There have been other older posts in 3rd gen about the same heated seat module fail. I hope Toyota steps up and fixes the problem as more of them are failing.

Even the aftermarket heaters fail, sometimes at a faster rate. All electronics fail and on a long enough time line, their survival rate drops to zero.

Have there been many reported failures on 2019-2020 models or 2016-2018’s that had the TSB completed?

As I understand the issue is only with 2016-2018s

My ‘13 modules are melted. Went to the dealership to snag plugs and the parts guy told me the only way I could fix it was to order new seats:crazy:

The 2013 modules used to be listed separately, but now need to be ordered with the heater pad as well (87510-04011). I am mostly curious about newer vehicles (2019+) though.

Would you happen to have the part # for the seat heater ECU too? Would I be able to cut the plug off and splice the new one or or would I be better off taking my seat apart and doing the whole 9 yards. Probably answer my own question there just looking for the easiest way.

I have purchased part 87510-04050 for my 2016 Tacoma. It comes with the pad and heater amp. I am going to pull my seat out and cut the connector off the original heating element and solder this new one on. I think it will work fine. Will report back when complete.

I wasted a week trying to by them online only to have the order cancelled and refunded cause they couldn’t actually get them

Call a Toyota regional service rep, not the dealer. You stand a better chance of getting it replaced past warranty.

Also I have spliced in the new amp to the original heating pad and it works fine. I took 30 minutes to do this. I decided to try this way after watching a video of someone installing an aftermarket butt heater, looks like a bit of a PITA to have to take the pad out and put pack in.

Yes sorry for not being clear. I was trying to find an old one so I didn't have to tear apart the seat. I watched some videos and it seems like something I could handle easily... Just don't want to at all

My 14' suffered this failure last year. I dug out the melted plastic and it worked for another year. Ordered a new connector, anyone source the amp separately yet?

Noticed last night that my heated seats stopped working - checked under the seat and same issue. Working good after the splice? I'm thinking about doing the same to save on some labour.

Has anyone in Canada been able to find a site that will ship? Every single parts place I've clicked on won't ship to canada and if I call them, it just rings and rings. The only place I've found that will ship to Canada is ToyotaPartsDeals.com and its 80 bucks shipping. As a last resort I'll do what I have to, but just wondering if any Canadians have had better luck?
