Hi all, old thread, but still a reoccurring problem. After a few failed attempts at purchasing the heated seat amp and it being returned due to out of stock or no longer a valid item errors I was able to source one successfully from Sparks Toyota in South Carolina. Now just have to figure out how to rewire it all..

    None yet!
Big thanks to @Jeff Lange. I've been putting off this fix for a while but figured with the incoming cold weather up here in Canada, I better get an order into Digikey. Some cleaning of the module and a quick desolder and solder job and my @$$ is toasty once again.

    Cheers.

Thanks, Tacoma world peeps. My 2013 TRD Sport driver's side heated seat quit working at 130k. Removed the ECU module, and bought the Amazon 5 pin connector, soldered in place. Maybe an hour job. and then it was Good to Go! Toastie seats again!

Great Info. Mine has stopped working except for occasional moments. Great to see the issue I probably have and the solution. Who doesn't need some soldering practice?

I am able to see the temps of the seats on my OBD code reader in the air conditioner PIDs under network A.

Any other replacment models #s for 2013 Taco seat heat ecu? I have the 87501-04020-A with the 5th pin terminal burnt. Does the 87501-06010 work as a replacement? Or what other model #(s)? Thanks!

Also stumbled on this thread after my 2016 limited driver side just went out. I live in Texas (bought truck brand new while living outside DC and moved to Texas shortly after) so we don’t use heated seats much, but looked under and could tell it burned out. Few stealerships wanted 250 for diagnostics without even talking about. Called corporate based on post 91 to start there. Initial reaction is they held position it’s out of warranty, applies to certain vins only, and I’d have to deal with dealers. Mentioned to them this is a fire hazard which should be a recall and all the vins listed in TSB are possibly different models and all use the same parts either way, and finally by time TSB came out most 2016 are already out of warranty (2016 made and sold mid to late 2015) so that it wasn’t fair for those like myself especially living in warmer weather for a potential fire hazard. Now they’re going to have their ‘senior agents’ call back next week. Will keep posted

Add me to the list…2016 trd or…
    No heat=no joy.
Will have to read rest of thread, but can any one answer this quick question?
Order my own part and fix or go after Toyota for tsb fix?

Well if it was able to be under warranty you wouldn't be asking, (possibly) but because you have a 2016 like me you probably don't.
PS my old parts worked once i replaced the wires to it.
    Better?

'17 Tacoma SR5, same issue here, drivers side. Anyone have any luck with the process if you're out of warranty? This is obviously a common issue.

I called Toyota Canada and filed a complaint… I don’t think people should be doing wiring hacks on their vehicles that could result in a fire. I doubt I will hear back from Toyota, but I want my heated seats back!
I guess I will have to break out the ol’ soldering iron.

Adding me to the list... Still lights up. can you access the box without removing the seat easily.. or should the seat come off? It's 5 degrees outside before windchill and I don't have a heated garage ... Or even a flat driveway

Unbolt the 4 bolts, lay the seat flat and you should easy access to the ECU and harness for repair.

Thank you for everyone that shared. I completed my mods to the module. I removed the old connector and soldered in my new. Then soldered in the seat side. I took this opportunity to add the seat jackers by Desert Does it (they are awesome). The seat heater functions now and probably better than new.

    thanks again for sharing the knowledge.IMG_2875.jpg IMG_2878.jpg IMG_2915.jpg IMG_2920.jpg IMG_2931.jpg IMG_2933.jpg IMG_2936.jpg IMG_2937.jpg IMG_2941.jpg IMG_2942.jpg

Another disappointed Tacoma guru! 2016 TRD Sport with the same issue. Thanks to all on the past posts I have now gained a lot of knowledge on this issue! Called Corp and received the you have to take it to your dealership for diagnosis. I said the obvious that I’m paying for something I already know. What a bunch of BS. I said we know where this needs to go and hung up. Thanks all… it’s pull the seat and new wiring harness time!

So is there really any need to replace the connection? From what I see it looks like some just direct wired it.
