No luck with the dealer for me. I actually just took advice from jerkwithkeyboard and cut the plastic around the burnt connection on the module as well as the harness. I then used an ultra small wire brush and contact cleaner to clean both connections plugged it back together. Bingo!! All fixed and back to warm back n buns! 2 mos now and no issues…TY Tacoma World!

I had a similar outcome. I put it all back together after inspecting myself and just the pulling apart partially melted connector and reconnecting the connector to take it to get looked at Toyota and worked immediately. So appears the melting can cause some residue to seep into the connector and make it loose connectivity. So I will probably switch out the connector like others did above with larger wiring to absorb some of that heat and amps.

My driver side seat heater stopped working. After following the directions I managed to fix it myself.
Thanks for everyone's input and photos making this an easy fix.

Attempted this repair but seat heater still isn’t working. I have different connectors than most folks here due to being in Canada. Below is my wiring before I wrap things and make it permanent. Is this the correct wiring? Shouldn’t it be 1 for 1 as I have done?

what was your wire to wire connection from the new connector to the existing wiring from the original connector? I tried to match up the wires the same as the original connector which is

    New connector/factory wiring:

    red to red
    Black to black/red
    Blue to green
    Yellow to brown
    Grey to black

I soldered them quickly to test it before cleaning it up and wrapping them, but the seat heater still doesn’t work.

passenger side works fine, and as far as I know they share a fuse so the fuse shouldn’t be the issue. If my wiring is correct I guess it’s the ECU itself..

I actually got it working after! Removed all the solder from the board, cleaned it up nicely and re-soldered. All good again! Bring on the Canadian winter!!

Man it’s been I think two winters since my driver side failed. This thread notification was a good reminder I should find mine and try to get it fixed haha. I miss my heated seat…just could never get the old pins off the board.

I cut the pins off and unsoldered what was left. It took A LOT of heat and time to get all the pins out. If I had my time back I would have taken my time and carefully cut the white connector away, leaving the pins.

Then just solder the new connector wire to the leftover pins.

Anybody know what wire goes to the on/off switch?

My drivers side is working now, however a little TOO well lol, it works whether the switch is on or off… wondering if the ECU was damaged with the initial wire or something else is wrong with my fix.

I would think maybe you got the wires mixed up.

maybe. It’d be nice to know what each wire does. They’re matched exactly like they are on the original connector however.

Did you possibly soldier 2 connections together? They are pretty tight. I didn't soldier mine. Got a guy to do it for me.

It looks like you got the wires connected properly.

Welp, pretty sure I damaged the board when I FINALLY got the pins out.

I'm ready to call it and order new parts, but looking at previous posts, it sounds like there is a new updated part? I don't really want to pull my seat to add a whole new heating element and harness for $292.

Is there still just an amp that we can buy for 17' year models, anybody know?

    Edit:
Answered my own questions. Looks like I can still buy just the seat heater amp
    https://wholesaledirect.moderntoyot...t-heater-control-module-left-right-875010c020

I'm thinking I"ll buy this new, leave the pins IN the board, and solder the new thicker wire directly to the pins.
