I don't know anyone who has ever added this option on a new vehicle.

I'm assuming it can protect paint for a couple years and then you peel it off for a fresh start?

Other than the bed liner, this is the only option I would consider adding to my new Tacoma.

ppf is very common to get right from the dealer, you dont want to add it after your bumper has already been molested by rock chips

I had it done on mine, I'm picking it up on Saturday 1000mi away from home (stopping a few hours away from the dealer for a lake vacation). Get it from the dealer before you drive away, mine was bought and installed for half the number seen on the Toyota website. A relative of mine had it done on his Tacoma before taking delivery a couple years ago, said it's great. My mom has had it done on her last two brand new cars. I didn't get it on my Subaru when it was new and I've had nothing but little rusting chips on the hood ever since, and that car is only 5 years old, good riddance...

It's well worth it and yeah it might have to be removed/replaced after a few years but then I assume you can just have any decent tint type shop do it.

Bumper film for "~$400"? Likely less important since the bumper is plastic and chips won't progress, that was my justification not to FWIW.

    I'd say it's worth considering.

I have it on my hood and lower rear quarters. It's defiantly saved my paint a couple of times, but I do know they are PROUD of it

I got the xpel installed on my hood, front surround, bumpers, fenders, mirror backs and headlights. Was mainly trying to help prevent the rock chips in the front. He suggested the lights because out here in AZ they usually turn yellow and get cloudy from the harsh sun. My truck came with some of this on the door edges and areas the tires will kick up rocks which I am glad it did although I don't know I would have added it. It isn't cheap to have someone install it and it looks a little aggravating to do myself and I'd probably F it up! It is also self healing. Look up on Youtube!

20210114_135521-1024x768.jpg 20210114_143854-1024x768.jpg I had full frontal package installed on my 1996 from the dealer still on the Truck to this day I was really happy with how it help to protect the paint. On my 2021 I took it to a local shop myself and had them do the full front, top of the cab and tail gate in the thicker Xpel product.

Just curious, why the tail gate? I would do the whole truck if it didn't cost so much!

How much is the dealer charging? I’ve been getting quotes for xepel and I’m getting in the 3500 range

On my 96 Tacoma I really beat the paint up on the tail gate from rocks, just opening and closing it over the years and the canopy window rubbing. I keep my vehicle for 20 years so i decided to just get it done. Yes it is expensive i paid about $3k for my PPF and Tint.

From a private company near Seattle I paid $2200 for my side window tint and Xpel Ultimate on my hood, front surround, bumpers, fenders, mirror backs, headlights, and cup holders. Then a bit latter I had the top of my cab and tail gate done and it was $1k. I got a bit of a discount as I paid cash for both.

Get a quote from a local tint shop. It's going to be cheaper than Toyota. Avoiding port installed accessories will speed up delivery anyway.

I had this on my 2016 and loved it so I had the dealer do it to the 2021, covers the front of the hood, frontal part of the fenders, rear lower bed

If the truck has 3500 miles on it. Is it to late to do the hood and fenders ? The truck is garaged at least 1/2 the time.

Living in AZ where rock chips are a constant concern. I opted to have Xpel installed aftermarket as it was cheaper and carries a long warranty. I have had it on other cars and saved my paint several times. Week one of ownership and the bra went on.

No you can still get it done. I would 1st do a really good inspection of the area you want covered to make sure there are not any rock chips and if there are you will need to use some touch up paint on them first.

I had mine installed by the dealer and it is perfect. My wife and father in law both had their brand new vehicles done by an independent guy who came highly recommended and there are things not lined up very well. I would just let the dealership do it. For what they saved it is not worth the headache having it re-done.
