Dunno if anyone else has had issues with the keyless fobs that have the trunk/door key where they fall out. And yes i do plan on getting the Meso key fob once they get more cement color in but anyways Several times i have had it fall off or come loose while being in my pocket and One time fell in between the pesky seat and console without me realizing it so i figured out a way to keep them together using some Mcguyver skills... just took some small key rings and one of those clips from a usb dongle(the kind with necklace thing)and made it so if that ever falls off I’d still have it attached to my keychain

I had the stock fob for probably a year before I got the Meso fob. Never had any key issues. Good job on getting it sorted though.

I’ve owned a 3rd Gen since October of 2015. Never once has that happened.

But, one thing I’ve always wondered with the MESO Fob... Do people still carry their little key on their ring? How do you get into the truck if the battery dies in the fob? Doesn’t seem too “minimalist” if you have to add something else to a key ring that wasn’t there before.

Don’t you have to carry either the little key or the bigger one anyhow to lock the tailgate? And there is other key fob replacement choices out there.

I just put a remote lock on the tailgate and keep the key in the console.

I tend to have bunch of stuff in my pocket including my store keys and my home keys so i think somehow one of the keys pushed the button to release the trunk key and i sometimes have it clipped on my belt. I rarely touch my key fob bc my doors unlock from just grabbing the handle as long as the fob is on me

There is a spot under the armrest lid that holds the trunk key. I thought it was for pens but i think i saw a post somewhere on her about some features the truck has we may not know

I was asking, how do you get into the truck when your fob battery dies without the little key?

Don’t trust that small quick snap thingy

I had one on a two way radio/lanyard and it busted

Nite Ize has some good products.
And just dealt with their great product service/replacement department

Either pray ur wife can bring your spare or pray u change it out before it completely dies on ya, sometimes when battery starts to die you lose range in your remote,i remember my old Ridgeline i had to get within feet to use the remote when normally u can be about 20-30 feet away so whenever it starts to not work from a distance change the battery out

Would the truck be able to start if the fob battery was dead?

Thanks! Good to know. I have had to use the mini key a few times when my battery was too low and I tried to remote start.

The truck will give you a warning that the battery is getting low in the smart key fob. As soon as i get that warning, i replace it within a day or so before it dies completely so the door wont unlock.

also, i have never had a problem with the key coming out of the fob by itself and I have it clipped to my beltloop all the time. Granted I dont have any other keys that would push on the release button.EE3E700D-7827-4B16-B842-2CEE4FF20955.jpg

In my case the bigger key you see on my ring. I didn’t buy the fob, it was a gift. I was not trying to be minimalistic....though I only have a few keys anyhow.

Yes. As someone else mentioned, hold the key fob next to the start button and you will be able to start the truck even if the fob battery is dead. This has been documented in a video done on the Youtube channel "Robmotive", whereby he actually took the battery out of his key fob, just to test it out. Very interesting. In any case though, for those who leave the "key" that is inside of the fob, inside of your truck, you are going to have a time getting into the truck one of these days when the battery on the fob dies while you are in Costco, or wherever, and you return to your truck and find that you cannot get in. On a related note, not only does it provide instructions in the owners manual, for what to do if and when the battery in your keyfob dies, which I have detailed above, when I bought my truck, there was actually a little tag that was attached to the gear shifter, with these exact instructions on what to do if and when one's keyfob battery dies.
