The harness itself is identical for both sides, so you can technically swap sides. The only difference is each of the individual wires are color coded to match the OEM wiring on their respective side to help prevent user error.

Notice the wire colors from the aftermarket harness to the OEM harness.

Dave explained it too...that they are identical on each side.

I was focused on doing it right which saved me because I did not mark the cables (high/low beam) when I removed them.

The color codes helped me figure out which wires matched.

My OEM LED headlights work fine even with the aftermarket sequential turn signals I bought on Amazon.

Ye, sorry I had wrote up the reply and sent it during my break. I just noticed after I posted it that @daveeasa already answered your question.

Glad your install went without problem.

Hey Dave I have aftermarket side mirror signals. The headlights have worked great since I installed them last November. This issue just started yesterday. Thankfully the headlights came with a warranty from Toyota. My dealership is ordering me a new one, ill still do some tests before hooking up a new one though. Dave I could hop on a video call with you sometime too?

Every other function of the headlight works other than the turn signal function built into the daytime running lights.

Nothing to report yet. Dave is sending me a new harness to swap out and see if that solves anything. Toyota dealership just got my new headlight in, but I want to test this harness out before committing to fully replacing the headlight. Should have a better update by Monday/Tuesday.

I got a passenger side harness back today from someone. Not sure who as it was my return label. Tests out ok on the bench. I will dissect it tomorrow. Interesting how life likes to be difficult.

    Mike,
Did you keep your old turn signals that are in the mirror? If so did you remove the aftermarket signals and put the OEM ones back in?

We’ll today on my 300 mile trek back home the turn signal started functioning like normal again. I’ll see if it starts doing it again before I swap in Dave’s spare harness he sent me.

I wonder if it’s your mirror signals causing a problem?

I mean that could totally be a possibility. My buddy has the same ones and they’ve given him no problems. I do still have my stock ones

Would be a good experiment if the signal stops working again to switch out the mirror signal, easy switch. Much easier than pulling and replacing the headlight.

    Mike,

Frustrating, right? This is exactly what happened to me as soon as David mailed out a replacement harness. I've since switched my harness and haven't had any issues since. Since it went back to functioning normally before I switched them out, I have no real way of knowing if switching the harnesses will be the end all resolution. I will say, I sent my harness back to David and he thoroughly tested it and thought it may have been an issue with a crimp. I do have a ARB compressor mounted right behind the passenger headlight and had the harness packed in there, so to his credit, it could have been me contorting it. Nonetheless, he sent out a new harness (custom/extended) at no cost and even paid for the return shipping of the old harness. How's that for service?

And, to that point, anyone with a compressor on the passenger side or dual battery on the driver side, I can do a 12" long conversion harness to make more space. I have a couple of those made up now and I'll list that as an option.

Ryan, definitely frustrating! Glad it started working again. Hopefully it stays that way. I have my dual batteries and air compressor on the driver side so the passenger side is pretty wide open, but could have been something as simple as a contorted wire. I'll keep this thread updated if the issue arises again.

Dave thank you for sending that harness so quickly. Ill keep in on hand in case the issue comes back. If it does I'll switch out the harness and see if that fixes it and send you back the old one for inspection.

So far on me bench testing there's no clear "problem" I can reproduce. I will look into options I have for bringing my bench setup closer to a real truck.

Anyway, sorry for the headache but know that I'm your ally on these things and so far I think I've resolved every problem I know about.
