Factory orange peal texture... feature or flaw?

Hey all. Just gave my truck its first wash and noticed something I hadn't before.

There is an orange peal like texture on the bottom of the truck. the texture is more pronounced on the drivers side, and less so on the passenger side.. which kind of leads me to think this isn't a feature of the truck's paint job.

Anyone else have this? and is this something I should complain about (to the dealership?)

Mine has it I think it's for rock chips and tar

 

Mine had it too. Pretty sure it's supposed to be there.

 

It's a protective coat for rock chips

It's a coating, done purposefully

 

Guess where my first rock chip landed. About an 1/8th of an inch above the texture.

See this complaint ever other month.
It's made that way. It's not orange peel.

 

my bad. I did search for it.. but maybe I didn't page through it enough.

 

It's like that clear piece of vynl you get on your hood is only there for rock chips

 

Used to see this complaint from 1st and 2nd gens too.
It was awesome.

 

Nope. Take it in that's a defect.

 

Almost as common as the threads about hearing the truck humming about 5 hours after you turn it off.
